The Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System is seeking an Optometrist for the position of TRIP Reader in the Clinical Service Program Office. The applicant will report to the facilities Chief of Ophthalmology and hold a full time VA appointment. They will be responsible for interpreting digital retinal images and making recommendation for patient follow up as part of the VA teleretinal imaging screening program for diabetic retinopathy. The Teleretinal Imaging Program (TRIP) is a store and forward telehealth technology used to acquire and store clinical information that is then forwarded to another site for clinical evaluation. TRIP is a primary care based model that will screen veterans with diabetes for retinopathy using teleretinal imaging that expedite referral for treatment and provide health information. TRIP readers function in an office environment rather than a clinic environment
