Experienced Pharmacy Buyer
JOB SUMMARY
The Pharmacy purchaser is responsible for performing related activities in the drug procurement process. Purchasing activities includes reviewing orders or pharmaceuticals, assuring contract compliance, identifying alternative product selections, and facilitating the procurement of pharmaceuticals system hospitals. Conducts sourcing research, identifies substitutes, and resolves supply issues with vendors. Manages automated ordering systems and supports the efforts to consolidate and promote economies of scale. Ensures all purchasing activities are performed in accordance with purchasing policies and procedures.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or equivalent required, college degree preferred; plus three years purchasing experience, preferably in healthcare.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
1) Work requires an advanced level of knowledge of the procurement process experience in a hospital or related field. Experience working with vendor contracts desired.
2) Must have a working knowledge of job detail systems and be proficient in the use of various personal computer based spreadsheet and work processing software applications.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
1) Must possess strong analytical skills.
2) A high level of interpersonal skills is required to develop relationships with colleagues and clients, gain the cooperation of others, and communicate effectively regarding complex information.
3) Must possess excellent verbal and written communications skills.
