The incumbent is assigned to the Mental Health Service located at the Dayton VA medical Center. The incumbent functions as the Medical Director of the Opiate Treatment Program within the Substance Abuse Program in the Mental Health Service. The incumbent is responsible for administering all medical services provided by the program, either by performing them directly or delegating specific responsibility to authorized healthcare professionals functioning under the Medical Directors direct clinical supervision. Other duties include, but are not limited to, the coordination of all Opiate Treatment Program quality assurance standards, and supporting team members for standards that must be met on a daily basis.

The Medical Director works with the Substance Abuse Coordinator for Opiate Treatment Program compliance and assists with hiring of appropriate staff and team organization. In addition opportunities for teaching medical students, psychiatry residents and participating in research may be available.
