Job Description:
The Project Manager Consultant (Senior Manager equivalent) - Middle Revenue Cycle, National Revenue Cycle based in Oakland, CA supports all aspects of the functioning of the middle revenue cycle both nationally and within the regions.
This senior manager is accountable for the documentation, maintenance, and alignment of revenue cycle processes in all regions of Kaiser Permanente for hospital and physician services.
This senior manager will support the mission and vision of the National Director by driving middle revenue cycle initiatives both nationally and with the regions.
This person will oversee and be responsible for the national mid-revenue cycle analysts working both nationally and within the regions.
Essential Functions:
- Oversight and support of effective charge capture in all Kaiser regions for professional and technical (hospital) services
- Advises regions on effective methods for charge capture and facilitates the application of national standards for charge capture in the regions
- Supervises and manages the workflows of middle revenue cycle analysts to drive charge capture initiatives
- Applies professional concepts and company policies to solve problems and improve revenue cycle function
- Supports national and regional revenue cycle staff and stakeholders to understand, interpret and apply regulatory billing guidance from governmental payors
- Identifies and supports revenue cycle initiatives that impact middle revenue cycle
- Manages complex projects, stakeholders, and direct reports
- Responsible for the training, mentoring and development of direct reports including performance management and feedback
- Communicate and respond to team members and management and develop positive on-going working relationships. The incumbent must be able to work independently and present recommendations to appropriate individuals for approval and authority to proceed.
- Develops concrete analyses and/or data to support recommendations and decisions and effectively draws upon others´ expertise to solve problems and build effective working teams.
Communicates solutions and recommendations to stakeholders.
Qualifications::
Basic Qualifications::
- Eight to Ten years experience in an acute care setting (nursing care, radiology, respiratory therapy, etc.) or business office for an acute facility is required.
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Nursing or related field is required.
- Must possess in-depth knowledge and understanding of hospital and medical foundation services, regulatory requirements, CDM management and project management.
- Must work well in team situations and have the ability to manage a large volume of requests for data analysis.
- Must be able to interact tactfully and effectively with affiliate CDM Liaisons, physicians and other professionals both inside and outside of the KP organization on sensitive and complex topics.
- Knowledge and understanding of CPT/HCPCS and revenue coding is required.

Preferred Qualifications::
- Prior project management experience is highly desirable, as is prior experience with Epic systems and chargemaster maintenance and billing issues.
- Computer experience with database and spreadsheet applications is highly desirable - Certified Medical Audit Specialist (CMAS) certification is highly desirable.
- Certified Coding Associate (CCA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Specialist-Physician-based (CCS-P), Certified in Healthcare Privacy and Security (CHPS), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), and/or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred.
