The Tampa Bay Heart Institute (TBHI) is a multidisciplinary cardiovascular center located in the heart of Tampa Bay, Florida. Everything about our program is designed with heart patients and their families in mind. Physicians and nurses are achieving some of the best patient outcomes in America, and our heart program is widely known for introducing new cardiac procedures and mastering the latest invasive and non-invasive techniques. Our two (2) cardiac operating rooms have the most modern facilities equipped with the latest technologies that are revolutionizing the way teams operate. Our remarkable technology projects images from the surgeon´s perspective onto screens throughout the operating room in real time. Since the entire team has the same viewpoint, it´s easier to anticipate the surgeon´s next move, fostering better collaboration, understanding and teamwork. In fact, it´s so promising, other hospitals throughout the world have come to the Tampa Bay Heart Institute to observe the ways it´s improving teamwork in the operating room.
Number of Rooms: 2
Number of Cases: varies, 2 per day on average
Skill Mix: Registered Nurses and CV Surgical Technologists
Major Equipment Used: For MAZE procedures, either Medtronic CardioBlate or Atrium Atricure; For Endoscopic Vein Harvest, Guidant Scope and Stryker Video System; Various other standard Open Heart equipment also used
Licensure Needed: RNs must have current/active FL state RN license and must be a graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
Special Certifications Needed: BLS and ACLS required for all RNs; CNOR for RNs preferred, CST for Surg Techs preferred
Special Skills or Competencies Needed: MUST have prior CVOR experience; circulator AND scrub experience preferred for nursing staff.
Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment are preferred
Must be able to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 lbs.
Schedules: 8-hour shifts with on-call requirements
Dress Code: Tasteful scrubs (individual provides their own)

Qualifications
Required Job Qualifications include:
Current licensure as an RN.
Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider and ACLS through the American Heart Association prior to hire.
Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
MUST have at least one year prior CVOR RN experience; 3-5 years experience preferred.
CVOR Circulator experience required; Scrub experience preferred.
MUST live within a 30-minute drive time radius for on-call requirements.
CNOR certification preferred.
Customer service abilities including effective listening skills.
Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.
Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 lbs.
