SUPERVISOR - HOSPITAL MATERIALS MANAGEMENT needed!
SALARY: $ 3658 - $4466 Approximate Monthly Equivalent; Paid Biweekly.
QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or closely related field AND two (2) years of experience in purchasing activities for acute care hospital use. Qualifying experience must involve ordering, receiving and accounting for supplies, materials and equipment.
Additional purchasing experience for hospital use may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Professional certification in hospital materials management from a nationally recognized association is desirable and may be substituted for the college degree requirement.

ADMITTANCE TO EACH PHASE OF THE EXAMINATION WILL REQUIRE A GOVERNMENT ISSUED PHOTOGRAPH IDENTIFICATION. APPLICANTS WHO ARE UNABLE TO PRESENT PROPER IDENTIFICATION MUST MAKE ARRANGEMENTS WITH THE PERSONNEL DEPARTMENT PRIOR TO THE TEST DATE.
This examination will establish an eligible list from which one (1) immediate appointment will be made at Kern Medical Center. Other permanent and temporary appointments will be made as needed. Successful candidates will remain on the eligible list for a period of twelve-months, unless specified otherwise by the Civil Service Commission.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Plans, organizes and directs the materials management program.
Interviews and selects employees for hire, establishes standards of performance, evaluates employees and supervises the training of employees.
Coordinates, with County Purchasing, the preparation of bids, requests for proposals and purchase orders.
Analyzes and evaluates bids and proposals for completeness, accuracy and cost effectiveness.
Ensures compliance with applicable JCAHO standards.
Promotes standardization of supplies and equipment.
Keeps current on trends, products, processes and vendors.
Initiates, monitors, renews and cancels equipment services contracts.
Disposes of obsolete and unused hospital equipment, when necessary and within policy.
Develops, monitors, and controls operating budget and expenses.
Performs special projects.
Other Functions: Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Incumbents must have the ability to perform the Essential Functions of the job.
APPRAISAL (Weight 100%): of training, education, experience, interest and personal fitness for the work based on any of the following: Investigation, interview and/or application. Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process.
