Description

Job Summary

The Vice President, Business Development is responsible for creating, communicating, coordinating, and implementing the strategic planning process for Menorah Medical Center. Responsibilities also include identification and execution of business development opportunities and strategies.

Essential Duties:

* In collaboration with the CEO, establishes a strategic planning process and hospital planning cycle, ensuring that the framework and process focus on the strategic business drivers for the hospital focused on inpatient service line growth, service, quality, people, financial, and critical community and internal relationships.

* In collaboration with other key Hospital leaders and facility CEO develops an inpatient service line plan that includes physician development, recruitment, sales and programs.

*Outpatient service line growth will also be a focus.
Identifies key growth opportunities in the market for potential joint ventures, new development or acquisition.

* Establishes a hospital strategic plan review and challenge process, ensuring that facility senior teams present and support targeted actions to achieve desired results around each of the key business drivers.

* In collaboration with other key Hospital leaders, ensures the alignment and integration of hospital and corporate resources around the facility and division strategic business plans, including the projection of capital, operating, information technology, and human resources needs.

* Establishes and coordinates a process for ensuring facility accountability and communication around progress made on strategic initiatives; facilitates support and collaboration from division and corporate resources to ensure successful execution of facility strategic business plans.

* In collaboration with the VP, Human Resources ensures that executive performance goals and development support key strategic and business drivers within the hospital.

* Serves as a customer lead to facility and senior leadership to identify issues and risks, to collect information for hospital-wide decision-making, and to provide value-added services to the key business drivers.

* Ensures availability of key information required for hospital-wide decision-making.

* Evaluates, investigates, and remains abreast of new technology, public policies and environmental activities which have an impact on the operation of the facilities; remains fully familiar with regulatory standards impacting hospital operations.

* Provides primary leadership and direction for new business development within the hospital, ensuring that sales, business development, and operations leaders collaborate on desired methods and results to achieve the same.


Qualifications


Job Specifications:

Education: Requires a minimum of a Masters Degree in Hospital Administration, Business Administration, or similar graduate degree from an accredited college or university

Experience: Requires a minimum of ten (10) years of progressive healthcare facility leadership experience, five (5) of which must have been in a free-standing, acute care facility; previous multi-facility and/or hospital marketing and/or planning management experience preferred. Emphasis on inpatient service line development, physician arrangements, and outreach skills a must.

Licensures/Certifications: American College of Healthcare Executives fellow status expected within two years of assuming the position.

* Ability to focus on desired outcomes and prepare specific business development and/or operational plans to achieve the same

* Ability to observe, perceive, and understand obstacles to superior quality, service, and financial performance for the facility.

* Ability to demonstrate understanding of, articulate, and make balanced decision-making

* Ability to lead permanent and temporary teams of individuals from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines in the best interest of the patients served, physicians, and the facility.

* Ability to make effective presentations to a variety of constituents, including physicians, board members, facility leadership, hospital leadership, group and company operations leadership.

*Ability to collaborate and demonstrate previous successful experience with service line, business development, and other operations leaders to develop new and existing business in accordance with the facilities strategic business plan.
