Detailed Position Description Responsible for assisting at surgery under Direct Supervision of the attending surgeon and assisting the supervising physician(s) within the supervising physicians normal course of practice to provide quality care for patients and to increase patient access and satisfaction. Standard tasks to be performed by a physician assistant under Direct Supervision, On-Site Supervision, or Off-Site Supervision if specified by the Ohio State Medical Board include Standard tasks to be performed by a physician assistant under Direct Supervision, On-Site Supervision, or Off-Site Supervision if specified by the Ohio State Medical Board include: Assess patients; Obtain comprehensive patient histories and perform physical exams; Order and perform routine diagnostic procedures; Develop and implement treatment plans; Monitor the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions; Provide instruction to meet patient needs; Institute and change orders on patient charts as directed by the supervising physician. Position Requirements 1-3 years experience as a Physicians Assistant. Demonstration of quality care in prior positions. Included in this requirement is an assessment of any claims or litigation against the PA. Must have computer skills to access patient medical data from UHHS mainframe. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook. Education Requirements Formal Physician Assistant training from an accredited program with NCCPA certification. Must be able to perform the tasks relative to the specific area in which the Physician Assistant will practice, as listed in the model Physician Assistant Utilization Plan that has been approved by the Ohio State Medical Board. License/Certification Requirements NCCPA-certified PA (PA-C) or eligible to be certified.Must meet all requirements of the Ohio State Medical Board for Physician Assistants. Approval by the Ohio State Medical Board of standard or supplemental physician assistant utilization plan and supervision agreement between supervising physician and physician assistant before beginning work as a PA. Must be credentialed by University Hospitals of Cleveland credentialing office before beginning work as a PA. Additional Details This position will participate in the care of the adult patient population for the Hematological Malignancy and Blood and Marrow Transplant area.
