Under the direction of the Vice President of Professional Services and the Laboratory Medical Director, the Director of Laboratory Services is responsible for overseeing the laboratory management process for all patients of Memorial Health System. Responsible for three hospitals with 210 employees and 2 million billable procedures a year. Responsible for all departments including clinical pathology, anatomic pathology, support services, couriers and outreach. The Director of Laboratory Services is held accountable for the development, organization, key collaborations, and relationships; direction, financial success,regulatory compliance and operations of Laboratory Services at Memorial Health System. Responsible to promote, set direction, and engage staff in the Mission, Vision, Values, Core Objectives, and Strategies of Memorial Health System. Defines and holds managers and staff responsible for operating priorities. Coaches, mentors, conducts performance appraisal, and serves as the key retention officer for direct reports as well as Level I leaders (supervisor). Engages and collaborates with laboratory medical directors and medical staff in identifying opportunities, improvement, program development and capital budgeting. Demonstrates Trusted Colleague behaviors. Accountable for budget preparation, implementation, monitoring, and adjustment as necessary to meet strategies, goals, and objectives. Utilizes diagnostic tools and metrics to analyze data, trends, and make recommendations to the VP of Professional Services. The Director of Laboratory ensures that the laboratory provides optimal services, meets all legal, accreditation, and certification requirements; complies with all applicable policies, procedures, codes, regulatory agencies and standards of the organization. Minimum Education:Masters Degree in business, finance or healthcare related field, Bachelors Degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological Science, Medical Technology, or Clinical Laboratory Science. Required Certification: MT (ASCP) or CLS (NCA); previously qualified under 42 CFR 493.1472(3/14/1990) or fulfill responsibilities under CLIA-88Minimum Experience: At least 10 years of laboratory experience with at least 5 years Director/Manager experience in a large hospital system with responsibilities to include clinical pathology, anatomic pathology, support services, couriers and outreach.
