Flexible work schedule to include some weekends and holidays.Salary: $75 - $90 per hour + benefit packageWe prefer this position to be full time, but we will consider candidates looking for part time employment. The Psychiatrist will be part of a dynamic ACT/FSP team with a rehabilitation and recovery emphasis. The team consists of a nurse, psych tech, financial planner, community integration specialist and social workers. This position serves about 135 long term members (patients), with additions of one to two per month. The Psychiatrist will be responsible for see in need visits, supportive therapy, support phone sessions, occasional home visits, on-call service, and phone availability after hours. The Psychiatrist will use the recovery model, and be able to successfully performed in a team environment, attain high emotional connections with our members, and be able to work in a non-hierarchical setting. The Psychiatrist will focus on the entire life of the member, not just the symptoms or illness. The Psychiatrist will participate in administration, program development, supervision of students and nurse practitioners, training and advocacy as needed. A Nurse Practitioner acquiring furnishing hours will be placed under the supervising of the Psychiatrist for the next six to nine month. The Nurse Practitioner is already familiar with the team members and will reduced the medication services workload for the Psychiatrist but will required co-signing of notes and prescriptions on a daily basis.Background on members served: Our members have severe mental illnesses in combination with high poverty in the level of SSI or much needed assistance. Many have been high utilizes of drugs, have been homeless or in nonviolent jail diversion. Our members have an extremely wide range of diagnosis, over half of the diagnoses are considered psychotic, and one third of our members are currently using drugs. Interested candidates must be comfortable prescribing medicines with dual diagnosis. Use psycho-dynamic knowledge both to help members and assist other staff. The Psychiatrist will be a crucial part of the team. Clinical leadership will be shared between Psychiatrist and Team Leader.Qualifications: Successful candidates will have a M.D. Degree, a current license to practice medicine in California and be Board-eligible/certified psychiatrist. Driving with current class C drivers license, proof of valid automobile insurance, and the ability to be insured by MHA liability insurance are conditions of employment.
