Area of Focus:The primary goal of the Sclar Center Implant Program is to offer comprehensive advanced education in the clinical and scientific aspects of implant dentistry and tissue regeneration. Graduates of the program are expected to assume leadership positions in the field of implant dentistry within 5 years of program completion. One highly motivated individual who has demonstrated excellence academics ans patient care and has completed an approved OMFS residency will be accepted each year starting in the summer/fall of 2009. This is an accredited and paid fellowship program in conjunction with Nova Southeastern University College of Dentistry.The format for the fellows clinical education will be a classical medical apprenticeship with daily interaction between Dr. Anthony Sclar. Fellows will be involved in all phases of care for patients treated at either of Dr. Sclars private Practice facilities and the Sclar Center community service program which provides dental implant services on an ongoing basis. Although the primary focus of the program is to provide knowledge and experience in dental implant surgery and related technologies, hard and soft tissue reconstruction and applications of tissue engineering in dental implant therapy, fellows will also gain requisite knowledge of the prosthetic phase of implant dentistry.The academic portion of the program will require completion of a comprehensive evidence based dental implantology curriculum complimented by interaction with the Sclar Center adjunct faculty and interdisciplinary education provided by specialty programs at Nova Southeastern College of Dental Medicine. Implant fellows will participate in patient oriented clinical research and will be required to submit 3 scientific articles in peer reviewed journals annually. Implant fellows will be also be involved with the training and education of OMFS and other post graduated dental specialty residents who participate in Sclar community service program.
