Thank you for your interest in CVPH Medical Center located in Plattsburgh, NY. We are searching for a staff EM physician to join our Emergency Care Center team. The ideal candidate should be EM trained and be BE/BC. In 2007 our visits totaled over 52,000 with our Fast Track volume contributing 40% of the total. The position is full time and is an employed model with the hospital. Our employed physicians have a comprehensive benefit package including pension and a tax deferred annuity plan. Excellent medical director and associate medical directors in place. Turnover is not an issue and the shifts are flexible. Scheduling provides 12 hours of triple coverage, and 12 hours of double coverage. Providers typically see fewer than 2 patients per hour. We have 13 FTE physicians that staff the unit. The ER docs do not admit patients. The primary care physician or specialist admits them. We have a chest pain observation unit and crisis team in place. In addition, we have a comprehensive EMT program that provides emergency services to multiple outlying towns.CVPH is a non-profit, level II trauma center serving a tri-county area of 170,000. We are a regional tertiary center that offers high technology and is accredited by the Joint Commission. Our typical daily census is approximately 260 (approximately 150 acute beds) with 155 physicians on the Medical Staff. Our sub-specialty support is very good. Our emergency room visits for 2007 were 52,065. We are one of the few New York hospitals that typically operate in the black. We are much bigger than what you would expect in a rural area. The services offered here are advanced and our technology vast. Our state of the art critical care unit has 14-beds, the Progressive Care Unit has 12 beds and our two new cath labs have digital equipment. We have 7 operating rooms that will be replaced by 9 new OR´s in newly constructed space in 2008. Our Ambulatory Surgery Center has 4 OR’s and 4 endoscopy suites. Our newly constructed Medical Arts Building houses a state of the art laboratory, pharmacy, outpatient cardiology services, and physician office space. Of significance is that we expanded our cardiology services to include open-heart surgery and angioplasty in 2005. This program recently received a 5-star recognition from Healthgrades.
