Memorial Childrens Hospital, part of Memorial Health System in South Bend, Indiana, is aggressively seeking an experienced, Board Certified physician to serve as Medical Director over its new department. This physician will play a strong role in developing policies and guidelines for the program, while serving predominantly in a clinical capacity. As well, this physician will play a key role in the recruitment of a second surgeon to join our staff.Memorial Health System in South Bend, Indiana is pleased to announce the continued development and expansion of Memorial Childrens Hospital, a member of NACHRI. Memorial Health System is deeply rooted in the northern Indiana/southern Michigan region, as evidenced by over 100 years of service to the nearly one million residents who chose to make it their home. Memorial has undergone a number of major enhancements in recent years including a $90 million surgical expansion that became operational in August 2009, the development of a Regional Cancer Center, as well as caring for those youngest members of our area through the establishment of Memorial Childrens Hospital that is scheduled for expansion in 2010. We have added a number of quality subspecialists to our staff, including a full compliment of Pediatric Intensivists, Perinatologists, and Pediatric Hospitalists, as well as Pediatric Specialists in the fields of Hematology/Oncology, Infectious Diseases, Pulmonology, and Developmental Pediatrics. It is our intent to also bring a Pediatric Gastroenterologist and Pediatric Neurologist into the practice.The flagship of Memorial Health System is Memorial Hospital, a 526-bed Level II Trauma Center and a 36-bed Level IIIB neonatal intensive care unit. Our facilities offer a 10-bed pediatric intensive care unit, 20 general pediatric beds, in addition to an eight-bed pediatric hematology/oncology unit. With the planned Memorial Childrens Hospital expansion, these levels will increase to a 50-bed Level IIIB neonatal intensive care unit, 12-bed pediatric intensive care unit, 38-bed pediatric unit, and an eight-bed pediatric hematology/oncology unit. Our surgical suite replacement project has augmented our number of operating rooms from 15 to 22, expand the quantity of recovery rooms from 18 to 27, and enlarge the number of pre-surgery beds from eight to 15.Memorial Health System is fortunate to partner with The University of Notre Dame and Indiana University School of Medicine in the training of its medical students. The ability to have academic involvement is available, as is participation in clinical research.
