* Provide quality delivery of assigned course information by planning, preparing, and delivering quality classroom instruction in participatory, interactive student involved modalities. * Provide guidance and academic support to students to facilitate course completion. * Maintain a high student retention rate based on organizational and regulatory expectations. * Evaluate and resolve student inquiries, issues, problems, and ensure appropriate action is taken to resolve issues.Program Chairs maintain a part time instructional schedule and a part time administrative schedule which includes program management oversight. The instructional schedule is directed and supervised by the Director of Education which also includes classroom responsibilities and teaching assignments with a dotted line for programmatic responsibility to the SVP of Education. The Program Chair´s administrative duties should be scheduled to avoid conflict with their primary instructional obligation to their campus. Key Success Factors Leadership:- Curriculum revision, implementation- Instructor selection/hiring- Instructor classroom observation- Program faculty meetings- Program attendance, retention, completion and placement (at campuses) must be at bench or above- Admissions Product Training- Career Services Product TrainingOrganizational Effectiveness:- Completion and retention numbers for all programs and schools will be reviewed Schools with low completion and low retention programmatic numbers will be the initial focus- DOEs and Program Chairs will review instructor retention performance and determine an action plan (classroom observations, content training, classroom management training, etc)- Program Chairs will receive programmatic results of the Student Surveys to review and discuss with the local school DOE for action- Review individual instructor attendance percentage behavior with the local DOEDirect Reports to This Position: -No direct reports, program specific instructors encouraged to maintain open communication with program chair in regards to needs, suggested changes in curriculum and specific needs in curriculum.Physical and Mental Demands-The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Physical - standing, walking, sitting, handling papers and folders, ordinary talking, hearing and vision, lifting up to 25 pounds.Mental - alertness, precision, ingenuity, problem solving, analytical, memory, concentration, judgment, writing ability, reasoning, initiative, patience.Requirements: - Primary/Essential Duties and Responsibilities -Complies with all Federal, State, accreditation and institutional policies and procedures - Teach one or more subjects within the Medical Assistant curriculum - Recommend and implement changes regarding textbooks and other aspects of the curriculum. - Coordinate with the Corporate Education department to revise and update curriculum- Visits campuses on a monthly basis or as needed or requested- Provide leadership within a specific content area for all campuses- Review instructor candidate resumes and participate in mock presentation/ interview process- Perform programmatic classroom observations- Meet with instructors individually or as a group; conduct monthly teleconferences- Responsible for programmatic retention, completion and placement statistics by program by school- Partner with Directors of Education to address retention and completion issues and develop strategies by working with instructors - Respond to faculty inquiries, requests for assistance, etc. - Ensure standard delivery of curriculum and related assets - Facilitate discussions among all Medical Assistant instructors - Stay current with trends in vocational education through professional developmentEssential Skills and Experience - To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.- Thirty-six months of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.- Proficient in software application, especially Microsoft Office - Ability to read, analyze and interpret common technical journals and legal documents.- Ability to effectively present information to management and/or public groups.- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. - CPR certified- English will be the primary language used; bilingual abilities useful but not required.
