The Associate Chief Nursing Officer supports the CNO with the philosophy, goals, and objectives for nursing services throughout Emory Healthcare. Plans, directs, manages, coordinates and monitors nursing department for a specified operating unit such as Emory University Hospital, Emory Crawford Long Hospital, and Wesley Woods Hospital. Develops and implements strategic goals and objectives to maintain high quality patient care service. For the operating unit including standards of care and standards of nursing practice. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Masters degree from an accredited nursing school. Ten years of registered nursing experience including five years in supervision or management. Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Georgia (or eligible). Strong communication and organizational/planning skills.Preferred Qualifications Masters degree from an accredited nursing school. Develops and implements strategic goals and objectives to maintain high quality patient care service for the operating unit including standards of care and standards of nursing practice. The ACNO-Cardiac-Procedural Areas will oversee department operations for Cardiology and the nursing practice for cardiology and procedural based areas to include Radiology.The Associate Chief Nursing Officer for Cardiology and Procedural Areas reports to the Chief Nursing Officer for EHC for nursing practice and to the COO for EUH and EUHM. For budgetary, programmatic and operations for the Cardiology service line areas to include Radiology. Additional Job Details 1. Cardiology Budget Management: Plans, administers, and monitors the departments capital equipment, operations, and personnel budgets by reviewing prior budget expenses, regularly reviewing year to date expenses, investigating variances, and taking corrective actions to ensure expenses remain within approved levels.2. Committees: Actively participates on or chairs ongoing or ad hoc committees or task forces to identify and resolve cardiology, nursing practice and performance/quality issues. Prepares agenda, educational materials and literature for distribution to use by medical staff during and following meetings. Composes and distributes minutes for meetings to document cardiology activities as appropriate.3. Goals and Objectives: Develops cardiology departmental short and long term goals and objectives and provides direction for staff in working toward achieving the objectives.4. Nursing Practice: Provides oversight for nursing practice in both cardiology and radiology areas to assure that RNs, Techs and unlicensed personnel are competent and function within their appropriate scope of practice. 5. Policies and Procedures: Oversees the establishment, revision, and administration of policies, procedures, and forms related to Cardiology services in accordance with state, federal, and organizational guidelines. 6. Performance Management: Delegates responsibility and accountability to appropriate cardiology department leadership. Effectively manages employee performance and addresses problems by providing employees with feedback on an ongoing basis, identifying ways to further develop skills, and periodically providing documentation and verifying competency to ensure employees understand performance expectations and develops skills to perform their jobs effectively.7. Professional Development: Maintains professional growth and the professional development of departmental staff by participating in educational programs and professional organizations and activities to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices and developments in the area of Cardiology Services.8. Program Administration: Develops procedures which support the growth of the cardiology service line. Collaborates with physician leaders to promote efficient operation and quality healthcare within the hospitals and cardiology services.. Maintains a close working relationship with leaders of the medical staff to support the service needs and areas of growth. 9. Communications: Regularly meets with and communicates operational changes to senior leadership, DD and staff to ensure they are aware of information that may affect their work. Seeks input and recommendations from staff on ways to improve operations. Maintains effective communications with other departments to ensure departmental objectives are appropriate and to eliminate the duplication of effort.10. Reports: Complies and generates routine and ad hoc reports summarizing cardiology activities, trends, and analysis to be used by senior leadership, Cardiology Service, Administration in making data driven decisions.11. Staffing: Ensures the staffing needs of the departments are met by projecting needs, interviewing and hiring employees to fill positions, and resolving staffing issues to ensure that the department’s workload is handled effectively. Actively recruits and seeks strategies to retain employees. 12. Workflow: Monitors and directs workflow by observing and reviewing work produced by staff to maintain efficiency and timely services and a high le2el of customer service.13. Supervision: Works with department leadership to resolve human resource-related issues and is accountable for the hiring, disciplinary, termination, and salary administration.
