Scarborough is one of six cities (along
with Toronto, Etobicoke, North York,
East York, and York) that merged in
1998 to form the "megacity" known as
the City
of Toronto. Although amalgamation
caused Scarborough to lose its "separate
legal identity," it has retained a
unique culture and offers some of the
best natural surroundings in the megacity.
Now the eastern part of Toronto, Scarborough
(pop. Unknown) is home to 14 km of towering lakeside
bluffs, the ruggedly natural Rouge River Valley,
and historic sites such as the eerie Taber Hill
Ossuaries Iroquois burial site.
