The Staff Nurse I is a registered nurse with the knowledge and skills fundamental to the entry level of nursing practice. The Staff Nurse I must demonstrate the behaviors associated with the Leadership, Art and Science of Nursing at the Novice level (identified in Duties and Responsibilities). The Staff Nurse I practices Relationship Centered Care in concert with The Methodist Hospital values of Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence and ServicePride standards. Experience - External: EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS - Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Texas. - Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor´s Degree preferred. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS- Six months minimum experience in area of practice, one year preferred. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED- Current license to practice as an RN in the State of TexasBasic CPR

Also required in this job is the ability to demonstrate and perform generic and unit-based competencies including the specific care of age and diagnosis appropriate patients; demonstrate positive interpersonal skills; utilize time and resources in a cost effective manner; demonstrate flexibility; demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills; delegation, operates various medical/surgical equipment; utilize a personal computer to include word processing and basic office equipment. Formal Education, License and Experience: The formal education normally associated with completely satisfactory performance in this job is a Bachelors or Associate Degree in Nursing. Requires a current permit of registration with the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas. Operating room experience preferred. Pediatric experience is a plus.
