LocationThis position is located in La Mesa, CA (San Diego County)Hours8-hour shift; 8:00 am- 5:00 pm, weekends on call.Qualifications-Current California Registered Nurse licensure required.-Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred.-Bachelor of Science degree required.-Master“s preferred in nursing, public health, epidemiology, environmental health, microbiology or other public health related field.-Previous experience as an Infection Control (IC) Practitioner preferred.-Minimum of three to five years experience in acute care hospital.-Knowledge of IC regulatory requirements and IC construction guidelines.-Good communication skills required.-General computer skills (Microsoft Office) and analytic capabilities for tracking trend and some specialized software.SummaryThe Infection Prevention and Clinical Epidemology team includes Hospital Epidemologists, ICP Supervisor, and additional Infection Control Practitioners. There will be an orientation to ensure a well rounded introduction to the role and a smooth transition of responsibilities. APIC basic infection control training course will be provided within the first year of practice as needed. The Infection Control Practitioner is responsible for infection control surveillance, education, and monitoring trends. Conducts infection surveillance activities as directed by the Infection Control Program and reports to the appropriate people and committees. Provide support in development of quarterly nosocomial surveillance reports. Submits reports with graphic display of data, analysis and action plans to IC Committee. Identifies and seeks resolution to patient care issues. Active member in Construction Assessment Team meetings ensuring proper IC precautions are in place. Works on improving pre-construction risk assessment process addressing non compliance.
