The Employee Health Nurse supports the health and well-being of Kaiser Permanente Georgia employees, physicians, and associate practitioners through programs that focus on the promotion and restoration of health, the prevention of illness and the protection from work-related and environmental hazards. Specific areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, monitoring and follow up of pre-employment screening; orientation and training of new employees; management and follow up of blood borne pathogen and communicable disease exposures; program for annual tuberculosis exposure testing, follow up, monitoring, tracking and reporting; development and coordination of annual employee influenza immunization program. This position requires close communication, collaboration and partnering with the designated Employee Health Physician, the Infectious Disease Physician, Infection Control Department, Environmental Health and Safety Department, Work Place Safety and Human Resources Department.Essential Functions:- Review pre-employment screening results. As needed, consult Employee Health Physician for orders, contact employee with instructions and follow up to ensure completion of required actions.- Assess new employees for required PPD. Administer PPD, complete reading of results in 48 - 72 hours and document on Employee Health Record. Follow up all positive PPD testing to ensure compliance with physician�s treatment plan.- Develop and implement plan to ensure annual PPD testing and follow up of all employees and physicians.-Partner with the KPGA Influenza and Pneumococcal Work Group to develop and implement a plan to administer Flu Vaccine to all employees and physicians.- Develop and implement a follow up plan for all employees exposed to communicable diseases (tuberculosis and pertussis).- Provide training and education related to Employee Health policies and procedures as needed.-Partner with the Infectious Disease Physician and the Employee Health Physician to review and revise the Blood Borne Pathogen Exposure Control and Follow Up Plan.- Document, investigate and report exposures and follow up.- Develop and implement Employee Health Policies and Procedures as needed.- Remain knowledgeable of OSHA, NIOSH and CDC standards and guidelines through on-going review and research.- Consult and collaborate with KP national and inter-regional employee health leaders to support consistency and standardization across the Program.- Implement and manage database to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of employee health requirements, blood borne pathogen exposures, and communicable disease exposures.- Oversee and participate in the audit of employee health records in conjunction with the Internal Site Survey twice per year, or as determined necessary by the Internal Site Survey Team leaders.- Collaborate and assist the EH&S and Clinical Education Departments in completion of the Respiratory Protection Plan requirements, including medical clearance, Fit Testing and training / education, as needed.- Collaborate with infection Control, EH&S and HR in management of employee health related incidents, including, but not limited to, blood-borne pathogen, environmental and work place exposures or injuries.- Collaborate with physicians and associate practitioners to ensure preventative screenings, vaccinations and treatment of exposures, as indicated.- Collaborate with KP Health Connect, Compliance and Security to ensure confidentiality of employee health information.- Develop and provide estimates to Director of Nursing of required annual funding for vaccines, testing and supplies.- Manage resources and supplies to maintain budget.- Provide excellent customer service that promotes employee and physician satisfaction.Basic Qualifications:- Licensed Registered Professional Nurse by the State of Georgia- Current Basic Life Support certification- Certification as an Occupational Health Nurse or equivalent certification within two (2) years of hire date in this position.- BSN degree, or the equivalent in education and experience- Three (3) to five (5) years current experience as an RN in a clinical setting- Two (2) years to four (4) years nursing experience in ambulatory or hospital employee health, infection control, work place safety or similar program.Preferred Qualifications:- MSN- Certification as a Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) or equivalent certification
