Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit. Coordinates care planning with other disciplines. Position renders individualized, age specific and direct bedside nursing care based on the nursing process and patient needs. Acts as a supervisor by assessing, planning, delegating and utilizing independent judgment in directing other healthcare employees for the provision of patient care. May at times be asked to be in charge for a shift.Minimum Education: Nursing Degree from an accredited nursing schoolPreferred Education: BSNPreferred Experience: Prefer 1 year of acute care experience but will consider new graduate. Certification in specialty area of practice preferred.Required Certifications/Licensure: License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Arizona. CPR. ACLS required or must obtain within six months of hire, PALS preferred.Special Skills: Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work with team members required. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with occasional periods of above average pressure. Excellent customer service skills. Must have basic computer skills.

Utilizes the nursing process along with specialized knowledge, judgment and nursing skills in the care of pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics based upon the principles of the biological, physical and social sciences to: a) Facilitate the patient´s achievement of optimum health status. b) Provide leadership and coordination to the health care team to facilitate the patient´s achievement of optimum health status. c) Maintain the standards of professional nursing practice. Interacts with all levels of MVH staff, physicians, patient´s families, and external contracts in a dynamic environment. Synthesizes and prioritizes data from multiple sources to provide support for the human response of the patient and family to changes in health status. Requirements: Current Arizona RN license. Must possess the ability to delegate tasks to team members and oversee their performance. Must be able to meet the physical and mental demands of the job description. Must be proficient in PC usage. Including complex technical invasive and non-invasive patient monitoring equipment specific to clinical area.

Perform direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act, with emphasis on the post-anesthesia care patients/surgical services•Provides immediate post-surgical care of patients ranging from infant to geriatrics (excluding critically ill infants and children) who have had general anesthesia, epidural/spinal anesthesia and IV sedation•Monitors all patients for airway and pain management•Proficient in interpretation of EKG changes, lab values and hemodynamic monitoring•Provides post anesthesia care to patients receiving high-risk intravenous therapies and blood components•Implement and direct care, using the nursing process with emphasis on the needs of individual PACU patients•Evaluate the effectiveness of the nursing process•Provide emotional support of the patient and significant others to make informed choices regarding health care•Participate in surgical services specific initiatives and process improvement•Provide supervision of new employees, patient care assistants, vocational nurses, nurse technicians, student nurses and/or nurse externs•Maintain high quality (age specific) care for adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, as assignedRequirements:* Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing* Two years of acute care nursing experience* Minimum two years critical care preferred—PACU pedi and adult
