MWHH, located in Katy, Texas, is a 193-bed, state of the art facility, due to open November 2010. The CNO position has a targeted start date of April. This key position will have executive leadership responsibilities for the strategic direction of Nursing Services to include the departments of emergency, critical care, medical, surgical, perioperative, and women´s, and may also include other clinical departments in addition to nursing. The CNO will have the ownership for establishing standards of nursing practice, approving nursing policies and procedures, and upholding standards of patient care that put quality and patient satisfaction at the forefront. The CNO, in concert with other nursing and clinical leaders, participates with the governing board, medical staff, and management to plan, promote, and conduct organization wide performance improvement activities. The CNO will develop and direct the implementation of, and ensure compliance with, Standards of Patient Care that promote optimum health care delivery. Candidates must be highly knowledgeable of social, economic, and regulatory issues affecting the health care system including Joint Commission, CMS and HIPAA and will participate in preparation and presentation of issues to the Board of Trustees and Medical Executive Committees.EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and of a Master´s program with a Masters Degree in nursing, business, or a related field. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSA minimum of 8 years general hospital experience with responsibility for clinical and ideally clinical support areas. 5 years of progressively greater middle and upper level managerial experience. Significant experience in working effectively with physicians. SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREDMust be a strategic thinker and demonstrate knowledge of organizational strategies and objectives. Must have ability to work in a high-stress environment and have demonstrated ability to routinely manage large numbers of complex, conflicting, high-priority initiatives. Proven skill in coaching and developing others including termination as appropriate. Proven skill in team building, team participation, and achieving organizational success with the right balance of macro and micro leadership style. Ability to analyze and solve problems and execute decisions in a timely and effective manner.
