Registered Nurse Medical Oncology / HematologyThe Registered Nurse is responsible for direct patient care: including but not limited to assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and documentation. In this role you will be required to: -Practice safely within scope of practices established by the State of California Board of Registered Nursing-Formulate a nursing diagnosis through observation, and assessment of patient, utilizing a strong knowledge base-Formulate a direct plan of care in collaboration with patient and members of health care team -Take accurate vital signs, height, weight and calculation of BSA (body surface area)-Assist physician in a variety of procedures-Educate patients regarding treatment modalities, answer questions and provide information at a level that is appropriate for patients understanding-Evaluate effectiveness of nursing care and alter formulated plans if required-Document nursing care provided in a timely manner in EMR-Utilize Lynx system-Administer chemotherapies in a safe manner-Supervise unlicensed health care team members-Delegate tasks to unlicensed personnel that is appropriate to scope of practice, and remain mindful towards patients health and safety-Dispose of discarded supplies in appropriate containers-Take responsibility for creating a safe work environment, decreasing the risk of hazard exposure-Hold a broad range of information regarding nursing interventions to assist patients in managing toxicities-Maintain patient confidentiality and conform to HIPAA regulations as outlined in HIPAA Policy and Procedure Manual-Assist with and coordinate care between Imaging, Radiation Oncology and Medical OncologyThe Registered Nurse will work closely with patients in the adult (16-64 years of age) and senior/geriatric (64 years +) age categories. Patients are treated with care, compassion and respect and with special regard for age specific considerations. Qualifications:-The ideal candidate will maintain a positive, compassionate and caring attitude towards patients while performing their work with integrity. This individual must be knowledgeable about scope of practice of registered nurses, about the Beverly Hills Cancer Center Policy and Procedures, and about safety hazards related to work environment. They must strive to maintain a clean and safe environment. In addition, the candidate must respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations and be willing to collaborate with other health care team members. -Minimum of three years of oncology professional nursing experience preferred -Current California RN license in good standing -Maintains credentials by obtaining 30 CEUs every 2 years as required by the State of California -BSN and/or OCN preferred -Current BLS certification -Skillful in veinipuncture, and accessing central venous devices-Knowledgeable about equipment used in clinical setting (i.e. infusion pumps, oximeter, etc.)-Strong knowledge base of anti-neoplastic agents and potential toxicities, and adverse events-Competent in the calculations of BSA and medication-Experience in Chemo mixingBenefits:We offer unprecedented benefits to our employees.
