Phoenix Children´s Hospital is the only specialty children´s hospital in Arizona and it is poised to become one of the foremost pediatric hospitals in the nation. The hospital is home to the state´s largest group of pediatric specialists and sub-specialists. In addition, the hospital continues to evolve its clinical practices and is working with leading local and national research partners to uncover new breakthroughs in pediatric medicine. Currently a 345 bed facility, new construction plans were unveiled in October 2006 that include the building of two new patient bed towers and expansion in bed capacity and other key programs and services over the course of the next several years. Primary Purpose: As directed and supervised by Clinical Nurses, performs a variety of direct patient care services to assist in the implementation of selected portions of the care plan. Work Environment and Physical Demands: Work activities are performed in an environmentally controlled nursing unit subject to extended periods of walking and standing. Work activities involve potentially frequent exposure to blood and other high risk body fluids, communicable diseases, hazardous materials, chemicals, and waste. Activities also include, but are not limited to, bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, pushing and/or pulling equipment up to 10 pounds, and lifting equipment and/or supplies up to 25 pounds. Regularly required to lift and position infant, toddler, school age, adolescent, and adult patients in the delivery of therapeutic care. Regularly required to use fine motor skills to manipulate and/or maintain equipment and perform procedures. Requires visual acuity, including normal color vision, and manual dexterity to use desktop computer equipment, telecommunications equipment, analytical instruments, and other equipment. Must communicate clearly in English. Requires the ability to speak, write, see, and hear to perform essential duties of the job. Requires effective and positive human relations skills, including confidentiality, in order to appropriately interface with all levels of Phoenix Children´s Hospital staff, physicians, patients and their families, and other contacts. QualificationsMinimum Qualifications: -Certified nursing assistant, or currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program with fundamental clinical nursing skills course completed, or equivalent patient care experience.-Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association. Preferred Qualifications: -Basic arithmetic skills.
