EOE POSITION REQUIREMENTS Coordinates surveillance, special studies, education, and administrative activities which are intended to ensure that the hospitals patients, personnel and visitors will be protected from transmission of diseases and infection within the hospitals environment. Provides consultative services to personnel, physicians, patients and the community in regard to products or procedures that carry special infection related potentials.SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIESIs responsible, either personally or through delegation, for1. Integrating the service into the organizations primary functions.2. Coordinating and integrating interdepartmental and intradepartmental services.3. Developing and implementing policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services.4. Recommending a sufficient number of qualified and competent persons to provide care, including treatment as appropriate.5. Determining the qualification and competence of department personnel who provide patient care services and who are not licensed independent practitioners, as appropriate.6. Continuously assessing and improving the performance of care and services provided.7. Maintaining quality control programs, as appropriate.8. Orienting and providing in-service training and continuing education of all persons in the department.Experience: One year infection control experience preferred.Education: Registered Nurse or Clinical Laboratory Scientist specializing in a related field such as Microbiology. Bachelor Degree in Nursing or Bachelor of Science Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory ScienceSpecialized Training: Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred.Licensure: Current licensure as Registered Nurse in California or California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License.
