The Director of Nursing has overall authority for the management of nursing policies, procedures, and practices as well as for supervision of client care provided by nursing staff, community coordinator, and community counselors. He/she determines staffing needs according to client census and acuity and is responsible for scheduling licensed nurses for twenty-four hour coverage. He/she implements an effective and ongoing program to monitor, evaluate, and improve the quality of nursing care delivered to Compass Intervention Center clients. Actively provides overall direction to all nursing and community counseling staff through individual meeting, teaching, observation, follow up to ensure clinical/managerial competency.Establishing standards of nursing care and the policies and procedures to describe and guide this care based on the Tennessee Nurse Practice Act, current scientific knowledge, ethical and legal standards, and outcome findings.Developing mechanisms which support the recruitment, retention, and ongoing education of nursing and community counseling staff.Attends administrative and clinical meetings such as Committee of the Whole, Governing Board, Management, Policy and Procedure, etc.Ascertaining the quality of client care by frequent nursing rounds and direct observation of clients, staff members, and their environments. Requirements Current Tennessee Registered Nurse Licensure, Bachelor degree in Nursing or with major academic studies in health science field. Must have three years management experience, preferably at the director level or above, and minimum five years nursing experience. Able to demonstrate knowledge of facility, state, federal laws and regulations, JCAHO and Tennessee Regulations. Able to communicate effectively with all levels in the organization.
