This position is at the Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla campus. Established in 1924 by Ellen Browning Scripps, Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla has been one of Southern Californias premier medical centers for more than 80 years. Today the hospital provides care for more than 130,000 patients each year, and is equipped with 332 licensed beds, has more than 2,200 employees and approximately 800 affiliated physicians. As the first Magnet Hospital in San Diego, Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla strives to be the premier medical center offering a wide range of medical and surgical services including a Level II Trauma Center and 24-hour emergency services, intensive care, interventional cardiology and radiology, radiation oncology, cardiothoracic and orthopedic services, neurology, bariatric surgery, minimally invasive robotic surgery and womens health services. Position Profile: Assumes leadership responsibilities related to education in the Medical Surgical areas including 4E, 4W and 7W. Reports to the Manager of the Department of Education. Active in program planning and inservice education. Responsible for the coordination of orientation and delivers education and staff development for direct patient care providers. Evaluates clinical practice for the medical surgical areas and monitors the standards of care. Provides clinical supervision as appropriate, within scope of practice. Facilitates shared governance activities, including but not limited to education, research and performance improvement for areas of expertise. Demonstrates ability to perform competencies as outlined in the Nursing Educator/Competency Assessment tools. Demonstrates age-specific care as established for area and job title with emphasis on adult and pediatric populations.Basic Qualifications (required): Current California RN License. BSN and Masters degree required. Minimum Qualifications (required): Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider required upon date of hire. Two to five years experience in medical/surgical nursing specialty area required. Preferred Qualifications: MSN preferred. Two years experience in nurse educator role strongly preferred. ACLS, ANA certification in Area of specialty. PALS certification. Attainment of Medical/Surgical certification (CMSRN) with in one year. Scripps Health is an EEO/AA employer.
