Responsible for the strategic development, planning, and delivery of patient care services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. As Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), provides leadership to establish the vision for nursing in partnership with regional CNO and other Partners. Provides vision, leadership and an organizational voice for respiratory therapy, social services, and other clinical services as assigned. As a member of the Hospital and regional management and Executive team, works collaboratively with other senior leaders to achieve the highest quality healthcare in a clinically and fiscally accountable manner.  Develops strong collaborative leadership relationships with Permanente Medical Group (PMG). Essential Functions• Operationally accountable for the following functional areas:  All inpatient nursing quality liaisons, discharge planning, acute dialysis, nursing education, respiratory and pulmonary services,  Emergency and Peri-operative service areas with COO.• Has final authority over all hospital staff providing nursing care, treatment and services, including approval of standards of nursing practice, for all survey-able departments regardless of administrative reporting such as the Emergency department and Peri-operative Services and Diagnostic Imaging.• Develops effective working relationships with key stakeholders, including assistant hospital administrators for Quality and Service, HR, Public Affairs, I.T., Pharmacy; Infection Control; DONP; MGA; Chiefs of Service; Regional PCS and Resource Management/Continuing Care; and Community Peers.• In conjunction with regional, national and facility leadership groups, determines the most cost-effective and efficient levels of patient care clinically and operationally; implements such locally.• Participates in defined and established leadership meetings locally and regionally and establishes partnerships with facility and regional leadership groups.• Works strategically with labor unions.• In collaboration with medical staff and facility leadership ensures a superior care experience and a safe environment for patients and staff.• Guides the operational implementation of quality improvement initiatives using innovation and evidence based practice.• Coordinates with PMG to provide for the seamless transition of patients across the continuum of care. • Accountable for the efficient delivery of all patient care services for KP members. Qualifications:: Basic Qualifications •Bachelor�s degree in Nursing. Master´s Degree in Nursing, a Health Care related field, Public Health, or Business Administration is required.  Active and current registered nurse license in the state of California or Hawaii. National certification in nursing administration or advanced nursing administration required within 2 years of assuming position. • 7 to 10 years progressive experience in clinical, management and leadership roles in a multifaceted health care system and multi-service provider setting required.  • Executive level communication, presentation, leadership, analytical and problem solving skills required. • Ability to lead and manage through influence and change. • Thorough knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations such as:: Knox-Keene Act, Federal HMO Act, TJC, and all applicable Medicare and Medicaid regulations. • Significant leadership experience in regulatory surveys. • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment. • Demonstrated ability to achieve results in a union environment. • Proven ability to deliver results for meeting organizational objectives.
