Scope of PositionThe Education Team Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing the education, training and learning needs for end-users of the Advanced Clinical Systems initiatives. Reports directly to the MSHA Project Director to ensure appropriate education curriculum development and implementation. Secondary reporting relationships are to the Chief Nurse Executive, to operationalize patient care standards, to the Director of Organizational Development to ensure education and training efforts are in concert with other MSHA education and training needs, and to the Nursing Informatics Manager to facilitate communication. This Team Coordinator is responsible for understanding the planned redesign of work flow & processes to optimize development of education and training for all areas involved in the Advanced Clinical System initiatives. This includes ensuring capabilities to achieve critical objectives for improved patient safety and care delivery efficiency. Further, critical objectives to be achieved extend beyond traditional patient care to include admission, transfer and discharge, capture of specific financial and billing information. In addition, this role is responsible for ensuring the supervision and management of the education and training relating to the clinical systems represents best-practice, evidence-based, patient centered care knowledge, and meets regulatory & user requirements. This role is responsible for the development of the education and training process for clinical systems users, including physicians and the physician office staff, and allied health professionals. This applies to both current users and future users. Further, this role will work jointly with the Medical Education Coordinator to ensure that medical students and residents receive education and training in proper use of the advanced clinical systems initiatives.This role provides leadership to clinicians serving on application project teams, and is accountable for accomplishment of development of education and training in synch with project timelines. To do this, a key responsibility will be to work collaboratively with other project managers while supervising and managing day-to-day planning and operations. Duties include establishing and monitoring project work plans and budgets that focus on clinical education and training content, working closely with project team members to monitor individual progress and job performance, resolving (or escalating) issues, preparing project status reports and coordinating activities and priorities with users, vendors and consultants. The development, management and supervision of the super user and core trainer roles for unit-specific orientation and for new application roll-out education and training is an additional responsibility of the Education Team Coordinator. The Education Team Coordinator is a Registered Nurse with a current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Tennessee. He/she must have a BSN and it is preferred that he/she have a Masters Degree in Nursing or related field from an accredited program. It is also preferred that this position have a minimum of three years educational experience with at last two of those years in a hospital setting, with hands-on experience with developing and implementing computer applications. This position requires that the Education Team Coordinator be familiar with the program currently used in MSHA. It is preferred that this RN have at least two years experience with instructing adults. Demonstration of proficiency in nursing clinical practice, problem solving, leadership, teaching, and application of advanced nursing concepts and techniques with a minimum of three years of clinical nursing experience is required. The Education Team Coordinator will be responsible and accountable to assure Patient-Centered Care which is based on patient needs, values, and choices. The Education Team Coordinator is expected to practice autonomously within the scope of professional standards, the rules and regulations established by the appropriate states Board of Nursing, and to possess knowledge of the policies and procedures within Mountain States Health Alliance. He/she demonstrates skill in developing and guiding collaborative collegial practice that delivers safe competent care based on meticulous application of the nursing process. He/she demonstrates sensitivity and understanding of the diverse cultural backgrounds of patients and caregivers. The position involves maintaining current knowledge of evidence based nursing practice and the ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills in the implementation of all phases of the nursing process. He/she actively participates in continuous quality/performance improvement of patient care through data collection, as well as, interpreting/evaluating the data and planning actions. The RN serves as a professional role model as a caregiver, mentor, teacher and resource for peers and other providers.Education Experience1. Registered Nurse, must be licensed by the appropriate state. 2. Evidence of continuing education as required by the appropriate states Board of Nursing and demonstrated competencies for the role of Education Team director.3. Five years clinical experience as healthcare practitioner.4. Three years of educational experience.5. Two years experience in a hospital setting. 6. Familiarity with programs currently used by MSHA.7. Equivalent of two years of experience in adult education and training.8. BSN required; MSN preferred.CONTINUING EDUCATION MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS1. Plans and conducts a minimum of two hours of job related educational programs.2. Obtains 12 hours education credit.3. Verbalizes understanding of Shared Governance Model and willingly serves on at least one Shared Governance, hospital committee, task force, or project to improve patient care or work area.4. Identified patient focused practice/care opportunities and completes PI/QI study that demonstrates measurable outcomes.5. Attends 75% of staff meetings and reads 100% of the minutes from the meetings missed.QUALIFICATIONS:Demonstrated computer skills. Excellent understanding of the terminology, business processes, and user issues associated with hospital clinical and non-clinical practice. Ability to learn quickly. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to work tactfully and effectively with team members, the vendor and the user community. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated education and training skills; education and training program development, planning, delivery and evaluation. Demonstrated analytical skills: analyze complex tasks/systems/problems, determine possible solutions, and design, implement and evaluate most effective solution. Strong attention to detail. Possesses understanding of documentation formats and care protocols, as well as well as concepts of Performance Improvement, Case Management and Utilization Review.
