Works under the general supervision of a physician using established and approved protocols as required by institutional policy. Typical responsibilities include: writing orders, completing histories & physicals, daily rounds, documentation notes, participation in data collection, ventilation during transport, discharging patients, developing & implementing protocols. Minimum Requirements: Qualified candidates will have a Master´s degree in nursing and certification as a nurse practitioner, pediatric acute care nurse practitioner strongly preferred. Must have a current Tennessee RN license and APRN license. Prior PCCU experience as a staff nurse is strongly preferred (minimum of 2 years) and/or Nurse Practitioner experience in critical care setting is preferred. Additional Information:The PCCU is a 36-bed unit providing care for critically ill children from birth to 18 years of age. The patient population includes children with various conditions including neurological, respiratory, cardiovascular, orthopedic, complex congenital anomalies, burns, traumatic & accidental injuries and/or multi-system involvement. Treatment modalities used in the PCCU include non-invasive & invasive procedures common to critical care setting such as intra-arterial pressure monitoring, intracranial monitoring, cardiac, respiratory and central venous pressure monitoring. ECMO, renal replacement therapies, advance modalities of ventilation & airway management are also used in this setting. This is a full-time position; 40 hours per week.
