An assignment now exists on the Countys MAP team for: LICENSED VOCATIONAL NURSE II - Per Diem $18.54 HourlyWorking in the Department of Health ambulatory Family Care/Center clinic or other County of Riverside Community Health Agency public health program, LVN II- Per Diems provide highly skilled, vocational nursing care. Work assignments are flexibly scheduled or on an on-call basis and receive additional compensation in lieu of benefits. Qualified applicants will have at least one year of experience working as an LVN in the care of patients in an acute care or clinic assignment and posses a valid California Vocational Nurses License issued by the California Board of Vocational Nurse and Psychiatric Technician Examiners. Knowledge of current principles, techniques and procedures used in vocational nursing is required, as well as the ability to skillfully perform the full range of vocational nursing duties and follow policies and procedures. Licensed Vocational Nurses - II Per Diems maintain effective working relationships with physicians, patients and co-workers. If assigned to work at a clinic, Licensed Vocational Nurse II Per Diems will supervise clinic staff and operations. After surgery, assist and instruct patient on how to keep lungs clear, how equipment is used (oxygen, suction, etc.) and other direct care information or teaching as required and within the nursing standards performed by an LPN/LVN. Before discharge, instruct patient and family on use of prescribed medications, contradictions of medications and the value of proper follow-up self-care. Provide to the patient communication and teaching information and education, before and after procedures, treatments, medication administration.Administer prescribed medications (oral, topical, IV and intramuscular injection), insert, monitor and maintain IV fluids, and monitor the patient for any physical or emotional contradictions to the medications. Proper certification for IVs by LPN/LVNs is required.Perform a range of diagnostic support duties which includes: taking vital signs, obtaining specimens, venipuncture (if certified) calling the laboratory for lab reports, recording lab reports given over the telephone, and assisting the physician in a variety of diagnostic examinations.Follow up on patient care and acts as a liaison with other healthcare professionals regarding patients needs for continuity of care.Perform a range of treatment procedures that include but are not limited to, using hot and cold packs, extensive sterile dressing changes, giving enemas, inserting, monitoring intravenous fluids, inserting urinary catheters, inserting nasal gastric tubes, passing medications, caring for patients in isolation, setting up and giving treatments that require auxiliary equipment such as oxygen and suction.Documentation:Shall successfully complete Informatics Technology computer security requirements.Shall complete annual Information Technology Security Awareness training.Observe and document all pertinent data regarding the physical and emotional status of patients.Promptly assesses and takes action to alleviate problems reflected in subtle changes in the patients condition such as dizziness or slight rise in temperature.
