The Nursing Manager of Emergency Services assumes twenty-four hour accountability for all functions of the department, under the general supervision of the Nursing Director. In collaboration with the Nursing Director and Medical Director, the Nursing Manager is responsible for the ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services provided in the department by all levels of practitioners. The Nursing Manager assists with developing and implementing performance initiatives to ensure optimal patient outcomes and customer satisfaction. Provides a role model for staff in the delivery of seamless quality family centered care throughout the health-illness continuum. Actively participates and leads initiatives to improve patient and hospital operations. Delegates appropriately by entrusting responsibility and authority to others. Facilitates the implementation of unit /department plans and programs. Collaborates with medical staff, executives, hospital leaders, and hospital staff to implement actions to achieve goals. Reviews the budgets. Makes decisions regarding the utilization of human resources within area/s of responsibility. Assures physical resources are readily available for staff. Utilizes monitoring and trending data to provide appropriate cost effective patient care which is in concert with the philosophy of the Hospital. 20%-Works within budget allocation-Ensures employee satisfaction-Ensures appropriate staffing5.Ensures the exchange of information (written and verbal) and ideas is timely, effective, and respectful. Informs the Director of pertinent information. Identifies problems with the quality of care and service and initiates actions for resolution. Acts as the communication link between management and staff. Assures staff is informed of pertinent information in a timely and effective manner. Experience maybe substituted for part of the education requirement as appropriate.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIREDCurrent, valid license to practice as an RN in the State of Texas. TNCC, ENPC or PALS, and ACLS. Specialty Certification preferred.
