JOB SUMMARY: Provides health care services through delivery of professional nursing care appropriate to patients age and condition as documented in the nursing and medical plans of care and in consideration of the diverse physical, emotional, spiritual and socio-economic needs and beliefs of families and the community in accordance with all Tribal, state, federal and licensing standards and guidelines MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Current State of Arizona RN license; American Heart Association BLS certification within 30 days of hire 2. Must have at least 1- 2 years previous nursing experience with ability to perform more advanced clinical skills associated with renal dialysis; Hemodialysis certification preferred ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Completes nursing assessment of patients condition consistent with age and condition including physical, psychological, social, developmental and educational needs 2. Determines initial level of compliance with treatment plan in accordance with hospital policy and unit guidelines 3. Performs ongoing patient/family assessment and identifies variances from diagnosis 4. Maintains and updates patients medical records through concise, accurate and timely documentation 5. Works collaboratively with patient care team and family members to establish and implement plan of care to ensure coordination of activities and ongoing communication of patient health status 6. Participates in patient care rounds and patient care conferences as appropriate 7. Continually assesses and evaluates patients health status and response to care, teaching and discharge plan 8. Shares observations and assessment outcomes with health care team and family to ensure communication and understanding of patient health status, progress and ongoing needs 9. As primary nursing care provider, supervises patient care activities of assigned team members, delegates activities appropriate to knowledge, skill and competency; provides timely feedback and review of care delivery to ensure maintenance of patient safety, infection control procedures and therapeutic environment 10. Maintains professional and technical competency through regular participation in a variety of educational programs and in-services, reviews relevant professional publications and materials 11. Develops and maintains good working and professional relationships with other health care team members and providers to facilitate open and cooperative communication 12. Provides orientation to the unit and hospital systems and processes to patients and family members to ensure familiarity with unit policies and requirements 13. Contributes to the team/units efforts by completing required activities within established parameters to ensure compliance with all applicable medication, storage and documentation standards, regulations and requirements 14. Reviews and reinforces with patient/family ongoing education of basic technical procedures, activities and safety necessary for daily living 15. Participates in departmental orientation, on the job training and quality assurance programs/initiatives 16.
