MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from an accredited program for Registered Nurses. Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the District of Columbia. Sound conflict management skills and the ability to be fair, unbiased and even-tempered. This position requires a registered nurse with training as a childbirth educator to provide for the education of families as they prepare for birth and family life. This includes an ability to prepare and implement content, instruction, materials, and evaluate teaching and learning strategies in relation to the labor process. Knowledge and experience in utilizing equipment and teaching tools and methodologies related to childbearing, breastfeeding, and normal newborn care is also required. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the District of Columbia. Minimum of three years experience in maternity nursing and/or childbirth education, required. Attendance at a Childbirth Education training seminar of at least 18 hours duration, required. Knowledge and skills in applying the principles of adult education is preferred.
