The TBI Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will evaluate new patients, gather histories, discuss goals with patients, and implement mutually agreed upon solutions. The advanced practice nurse will prescribe medications, educate patients about risks and benefits, probe for side effects, and monitor progress, always striving to meet the patients needs. Incumbent works closely with other members of the total treatment team in the formulation of the total care plan for patients. Provides comprehensive nursing care for TBI patient. Observes patients closely, evaluating and recording any significant behavior and reaction patterns. Please contract Robyn Walker, MD Consulting Business Solutions Education: TBI Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners shall have a Masters and/or Doctorate degree from an accredited school. Experience: The Nurse Practitioner shall have a minimum of one year experience as a practicing NP. Clinical experience diagnosing and treating psychiatric conditions, Traumatic Brain Injury(TBI) and knowledge of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and related conditions. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Must have and maintain a current, active, valid, unrestricted RN license in a least one U.S. State, the District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction. In addition, the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse must possess a license (or other authorizing document) for advanced practice issued by either the State Board of Nursing granting the RN license or another state effective 1 July 2009. Must maintain a current certification as a psychiatric nurse practitioner from a nationally recognized source (or national certifying body), such as the American Nurses Credentialing Commission (ANCC). TBI Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Continuing Education: Must maintain Continuing Education credit sufficient to maintain both clinical license and certification and to meet MTF specific Quality Assurance standards for credentialing as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. The government will not pay for the continuing education. Basic Life Support Training: All contract service providers must possess and maintain current course completion documentation for basic life support (BLS) through an American Heart Association and/or Red Cross approved training program. BLS shall be renewed every two years. Specific Duties/Tasks shall include but are not limited to: Statement of Work for Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner: 1.The TBI Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will evaluate new patients, gather histories, discuss goals with patients, and implement mutually agreed upon solutions. 2.The advanced practice nurse will prescribe medications, educate patients about risks and benefits, probe for side effects, and monitor progress, always striving to meet the patients needs. 3.Incumbent works closely with other members of the total treatment team in the formulation of the total care plan for patients. 4.Provides comprehensive nursing care for TBI patient. Observes patients closely, evaluating and recording any significant behavior and reaction patterns. Screens for and addresses side effects or other medication problems, monitors efficacy, responding as needed. 5.Works closely with other TBI providers in coordinating referral and providing feedback as needed as well as providing guidance and recommendations to unit commanders and other leaders regarding the well being of their soldiers with Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI). 6.Collaborates with physicians regarding patient management, evaluating and revising therapeutic plans. Refers high risk, unstable or extremely complex patients to medical management. Prescribes medications approved by the therapeutic agents board. 7.Provides education and counseling to patients and family members on treatment plans to include expected course for recovery.
