DEPARTMENT: PCS - Adult Services Mgmt Med Surg TeleSCHEDULE: Full-Time regular, 40 hours per week, Day shift.Note: May include weekends and after hours, based on departmental needs EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: BSN or BA in health care related field preferred. Graduate of accredited school of nursing. Current California RN license required. Current BLS certification required and ALCS certification strongly preferred.JOB SUMMARY:Manages activities of the unit(s), monitors quality, service and utilization standards. Supervises the day to day shift activities.1. Supervises and directs the units clinical day to day shift activities.2. Manages the units day to day clinical operations including practice standards, staffing, payroll, budgets, fiscal, management and quality improvement.3. Ensures the highest quality of care is provided and is in compliance with federal state and local regulatory requirements and established departmental policies and procedures.4. Monitors the quality of service and utilization standards and assumes specific responsibility for patient care at the unit level.5. Ensures coordinated plans of treatment, customer focused care and cost effective utilization services.6. Communicates clearly, accurately and concisely in verbal and written forms. Effectively adjusts communication for specific situations and diverse audiences.7. Proactively develops strong relationships across organizational lines and with labor.8. Demonstrates service oriented behaviors and openness to creative and innovative approaches to providing service and comfort to staff and patients.9. Demonstrates Cultural Sensitivity and Diversity. Demonstrates respect for diverse needs and perspectives.10. Works with health care providers outside of the unit, to achieve optimal patient care across the continuum.11. Supervises the daily units operations, including human resources management, department and employee safety programs, and risk management.QUALIFICATIONS:Demonstrated knowledge of quality improvement, clinical care delivery processes, staffing, and budgeting. Knowledge of Nursing Practice Act, The Joint Commission and other federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. Strong interpersonal communication skills.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:1. Minimum 3-5 years of acute care experience.2. Minimum one years of experience as team leader/charge nurse.3. Demonstrated knowledge of quality improvement, clinical care delivery processes, staffing and budgeting.4. Knowledge of Nursing Practice Act, Joint Commission, and other local regulatory requirements.5. Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills with staff, patients, and co-workers.6. Experience leading teams to implement unit projects.DUTIES:Manages the unit’s day to day clinical operations including practice standards, staffing, payroll, budgets, fiscal management, and quality improvement. Develops and implements action plans to improve staff development. Supervises a single unit (8 to 24 hours) of approximately 20 - 60+ employees. Ensures the highest quality of care is provided and is in compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and established departmental policies and procedures. Utilization of services. Monitors the quality of service and utilization standards and assumes specific responsibility for patient care at the unit level. Ensures coordinated plans of treatment, customer focused care and cost effective utilization of services. Monitors the allocation and utilization of personnel based on continual changes in patient population/needs and provides the best level of patient care while identifying savings opportunities. Works with health care providers outside of the unit, to achieve optimal patient care across the continuum. Researches, identifies, and implements best practice models of other units. Investigates and resolves patient/family member concerns regarding patient care. Supervises the daily unit operations, including human resources management, department and employee safety programs, and risk management.
