Summary of Position:Improve patient care and outcomes by serving as expert clinician, educator, consultant and/or researcher for a specified patient population.This position involves treatment of patients and requires direct access to Protected Health Information (PHI). The PHI accessed is limited to the minimum necessary PHI of patients being treated. PHI is accessed through direct contact with the patient and/or family/visitors, the patients medical record/chart/admission, computer applications, or verbal reports from other direct care providers. Responsibilities: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Serve as a clinical expert and resource to the health care team.- Conduct ongoing assessment of staff educational needs and competencies and provide education and instruction as needed.- Participate in the development of clinical competencies and coordinate annual competency validation for staff.- Coordinate department-specific orientation for new staff and graduate nurses.- Collaborate with physicians and staff in developing evidenced-based practice, policies & procedures and protocols.- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds with a focus on quality, management of length of stay and customer service.- Serve as a clinical consultant to staff nurses, physicians and support staff.- Participate in performance improvement activities and assist with data collection and research projects.- Maintain real-time readiness by ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies and accrediting organizations (i.e. CMS, JCAHO, OSHA). - Serve on departmental and hospital-wide committees. Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Graduate of accredited school of nursing.Graduate level nursing degree (to include preparation within a nursing specialty i.e. Clinical Nurse Specialist, Nurse Practitioner, Educator).Current Georgia license to practice as an R.N. and/or current authorization as an A.P.R.NExperience in educating and supervising nursing personnelFive years clinical nursing experience in related field, preferredCertification in specialty area, preferredMember of professional organization in related field, preferred
