Position Summary:The Peri-Natal Clinical Educator is responsible for needs assessment, analysis, planning, implementation and evaluation of orientation, education, and staff development activities for clinical staff of patient care units across all shifts. This position works collaboratively with unit management, physicians, and staff to define, coordinate, and analyze the orientation and continuing educational needs and activities for all staff members of the patient care units to assure a foundation of competency for patient care and nursing practice. Planning, designing, coordinating, and evaluating skills are utilized in the review and development of relevant orientation and education programs and activities. This position requires the ability to motivate all skill levels of staff with creative and adult learning methods and to integrate team building and caring actions into all learning models. Major decisions are subject to the review and approval of the Clinical Director. Minimum Requirements:Minimum three years nursing experience with at least two years in clinical specialty area. Minimum one year experience in educating/training of health care personnel.Education/Licenses/Certifications:Bachelor´s Degree in Nursing, Education, or appropriate field required, Master´s preferred. Certification in area of nursing specialty and/or certification in nursing staff development, and/or continuing education (ACLS/APLS highly recommended for critical care areas, NRCI highly recommended in Women/Newborn Services). Summary of Position:Improve patient care and outcomes by serving as expert clinician, educator, consultant and/or researcher for a specified patient population.This position involves treatment of patients and requires direct access to Protected Health Information (PHI). The PHI accessed is limited to the minimum necessary PHI of patients being treated. 2 Permanent Full Time Clinical Nurse EducatorsRestorative & Continuing CareThe Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) integrates knowledge and skill reflective of the RQHR Health Services models of care and principles of adult learning, in the provision of education, research, and quality client centered care for a defined group of clients and programs. The incumbent will provide visible, proactive leadership and promote the delivery of client centered care through identified education programming. In collaboration with the Director, management staff and consultants for Restorative and Continuing Care and administrative staff in Long Term Care facilities, the CNE is responsible for assessing learning needs of staff, planning, implementing, and evaluating education activities/programs. The CNE will use a consultative approach and research findings to provide support to Care Staff and other Support Staff. Positions will have specific responsibilities related to specialized client needs and clinical knowledge within Long Term Care facilities, community hospitals and integrated facilities in the RQHR. Graduate of an approved Nursing Program. Requires, or is in progress towards a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a recognized university or comparable degree in education/adult learning. Requires a minimum of three (3) years experience related to the clinical area (long term care, acute care). Requires experience in a) program/resource development related to needs assessment, program design, implementation and evaluation; and b) teaching adults, facilitation skills, and leading group activities. Requires current registration with the SRNA or RPNAS. Requires certification for life support. Basic computer skills. Position includes travel to sites in Regina and in rural RQHR. Field hours.

Twenty-four hour accountability for assessing and meeting the clinical education needs of the clinical staff. The educator collaborates, consults and partners with other units, departments, and throughout the organization in meeting identified educational needs and requirements including regional development. Conducts and completes regular learning-needs assessments and uses the analyzed data to develop educational programs and instructional modules for the assigned unit staff. Graduate of accredited nursing program. BSN required. Masters degree in nursing/education with CNS emphasis preferred. Minimum 4 years pediatric nursing experience in area of expertise.Functions as key resource in promoting and supporting staff with professional practice and development (i.e. Professional Practice Program, Critical Care Internship Program, PALS, ENCP, TNCC, CPN, Current State of Connecticut Registered Nurse licensure required APON). BLS-C required. Specialty licensure/certification may be required, as specified by department. PALS certification within 6 months from hire. BLS, PALS Instructor highly preferred.
