Plan and implement health teaching groups.Maintain appropriate boundaries with patients and an understanding of the difference between therapeutic relationships and friendships.Understand the importance of maintaining the dignity of the psychiatric patient.Able to lead a crisis team within the milieu, de-escalate potentially dangerous situations.Teach patient and family members keeping age, education, and socioeconomic conditions in consideration.Monitor ADLs.Assist or act as charge nurse when requested.Understand precaution designations for patients at risk and supervises the correct policy and procedure for these.- Work Experience Experience in geriatric psych unit preferred.- Training Annual Non-violent Crisis intervention training required.- License/Certification Current New Mexico Nurse license; CPR certification required.
