DEPARTMENT: PICU/PediatricsSCHEDULE: Full-time, regular; 40hrs/week; SHIFT: Day; Monday through Friday 6:45am to 3:15p.EDUCATION: -BSN or BA in health care related field preferred. -Graduate of accredited school of nursing. -Current California RN license required. -Current BLS certification required and ALCS certification strongly preferred.POSITION SUMMARY: -Manages activities of the unit(s), monitors quality, service and utilization standards. -Supervises the day to day shift activities.QUALIFICATIONS: -Demonstrated knowledge of quality improvement, clinical care delivery processes, staffing, and budgeting. -Knowledge of Nursing Practice Act, The Joint Commission and other federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. -Strong interpersonal communication skills.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Exempt Position.- While primary responsibilities will be on the Day Shift, flexibility in hours and shift may be required. -Three years Pediatric/Peds Critical Care experience within the last 5 years required with demonstrated clinical expertise and sound knowledge of nursing theory. -Experience in Pediatric transport preferred. -Demonstrated knowledge of quality improvement, clinical care delivery processes, staffing, budgeting, facilitative communication skills, team building techniques and principle driven leadership. -Acceptable attendance and courtesy required. -Knowledge of Nursing Practice Act, JCAHO and other federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.REQUIRED SKILLS TESTING and DUTIES: -Manages the unit´s day to day clinical operations including practice standards, staffing, payroll, budgets, fiscal management, and quality improvement. -Develops and implements action plans to improve staff development. -Supervises a single unit (8 to 24 hours) of approximately 20 - 60+employees. -Ensures the highest quality of care is provided and is in compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and established departmental policies and procedures. -Utilization of services. -Monitors the quality of service and utilization standards and assumes specific responsibility for patient care at the unit level. -Ensures coordinated plans of treatment, customer focused care and cost effective utilization of services. -Monitors the allocation and utilization of personnel based on continual changes in patient population/needs and provides the best level of patient care while identifying savings opportunities. Works with health care providers outside of the unit, to achieve optimal patient care across the continuum. -Researches, identifies, and implements best practice models of other units. Investigates and resolves patient/family member concerns regarding patient care. -Supervises the daily unit operations, including human resources management, department and employee safety programs, and risk management. PREFERRED DUTIES:-Under the guidance of the Pediatric and Pediatric ICU Clinical Managers, participates in the nursing management of 32 licensed Pediatric beds and 10 Pediatric ICU beds. -Assists the Women and Children´s Management staff with facilitation and problem solving. -Manages the day to day clinical operations including practice standards, staffing, payroll, budgets, fiscal management, and quality improvement. -Participates in the development and implementation of action plans and education programs to improve staff performance. -Ensures the highest quality of care is provided and is incompliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and established departmental policies and procedures. -Monitors the quality of service and utilization standards and assumes specific responsibility for patient care at the unit level. -Ensures coordinated plans of treatment, customer focused care and cost effective utilization of services. -Monitors the allocation and utilization of personnel based on continual changes in patient population/needs and provides the best level of patient care while identifying savings opportunities. -Works with health care providers outside of the unit to achieve optimal patient care across the continuum. -Researches, identifies, and implements best practice models of care. Investigates and resolves patient/family member concerns regarding patient care. -Supervises the daily unit operations, including human resources management, department and employee safety programs, and risk management. -Must be willing to work in a Labor-Management Partnership environment. -Assists in the coordination of inter facility transport of Pediatric and Pediatric ICU patients. -Provides for ongoing communications with staff and ancillary departments; provides a forum for staff involvement in problem identification and resolution. -Attends management meetings locally and Regionally as assigned. -Participates in medical center and nursing committees, as assigned, in order to share information, problem solve, and evaluate the impact of services to receiving departments.-Meets regularly with management to share information regarding department activities. -Consistently supports compliance and the Principles of Responsibility (KP´s code of conduct) by maintaining confidentiality, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to applicable Federal and State laws and regulations, accreditation and licensure requirements, and KP policies and procedures.
