Breast Surgery Ctr APRN

Nurse Practitioner needed for busy Breast Surgeons Private Practice located in Fairfield/Bridgeport, CT to work independently and collaboratively, with physician on complex breast patients. Responsibilities include direct patient management with post-operative care, education and high-risk evaluation. Assess the physical status of patients, health history, physical exam, diagnostic tests, and diagnose independently with guidance from physician. Candidate is able to demonstrate empathy, compassion, good organizational and communication skills.One (1) year APRN experience; surgical experience desired and must be licensed to practice nursing in the State of Connecticut.

The ED Crisis Unit is designed to provide a safe environment to quickly and professionally assess psychiatric conditions, develop a rapid stabilization plan and then refer the patient to the most appropriate, least restrictive available level of care. The ED Crisis Unit is a 7-bed unit and will be opened 365 days a year, 24 hours daily. The APRN Unit Coordinator provides and directs the delivery of psychiatric services in collaboration with Emergency Physicians and under the supervision of a delegated Psychiatrist. The APRN is an independently licensed clinician who is responsible and accountable for the research based knowledge, skills, and experience to assess, diagnose, treat, and provide case management for clients with psychiatric and chemical dependency problems. The APRN therapeutically intervenes in complicated mental health problems using psychotherapy, medication management, and other interventions. The APRN consults with other healthcare providers to influence the care of patients, affect change in systems, and enhance the ability of others to provide healthcare. The APRN functions as a clinical leader and as a resource and preceptor for other staff, in program development in guiding group decision-making, in implementing plans, and improving quality of care. The APRN will have both clinical and administrative responsibilities but the primary role will be patient care in the Crisis Unit. Flexible scheduling - needs are 7 days a week 24/hr per day. The primary hours for the role will be Monday Friday 7AM 4 PM.Must be licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse currently licensed in Connecticut. Geriatrics Emergency Medicine Service

SUMMARY: A nurse practitioner or CNS who provides screening, assessment, consultation, and intervention for elderly patients who arrive in the Emergency Department. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Clinically assess Emergency Department (ED) patients who are elderly (65+).2. Communicate patient progress and issues with ED physician and collaborate to develop treatment plans for elderly patients.3. Collect and maintain data regarding care and outcomes of elderly patients who present to the ED.5. Responsible for processing and patient care management of breast patients including in some patient and mainly outpatient arenas. The APRN works collaboratively with attending physicians, nurses, and utilizes a team approach in the care of the complex breast patient and the patient with breast cancer. The APRN may diagnose illness and physical condition and perform therapeutic and corrective measures within the Breast Care/Cancer specialty. Assesses the physical and psychosocial status of patients by interview, health history, physical exam and diagnostic tests. Participates in department KROs and quality improvement initiatives. Carries out responsibilities with minimal need for supervision and guidance within the scope of practice.- At least one year experience in Nursing Education.- Demonstrated competence in nursing area of expertise (2-5 years)- Consultative relationships with the NM, NCM, PNIII and APN and physicians as appropriate- BS in nursing or related field- Licensed to practice nursing in the State of Connecticut- BLS Certification, ACLS Provider Certification- PALS Provider Certificate where appropriate

The Hospitalist program at Bridgeport Hospital requires a full-time APRN to join their existing group of eleven Internal Medicine physicians, one APRN, and one PA-C. The position would be for day or late evening shifts, 8 to 12-hours each, 40 hrs a week, availability of working every other weekend, (no nights or no on-call), with competitive pay, and CME allowance. The job would also include a full range of comprehensive benefits, including malpractice insurance, medical coverage, and retirement benefits.
