The Nurse Practitioner is responsible to the Director of Electrophysiology and the Atrial Fibrillation program and the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and functions as an integral part of the medical team. The Nurse Practitioner practices under the Board of Registered Nursing California code of regulations, Title 16, Article 8, Section 1480-1485, utilizing the Nurse Practitioner Standardized Procedures. These are developed in a collaborative effort within the area of specialty, department of Nursing and the Hospital Administration, incorporating CSHS goals and represent an interdisciplinary approach to patient care delivery. The Nurse Practitioner role provides individualized care in the inpatient and outpatient environments under the direction of and in collaboration with Cardiology and Cardiothoracic supervising physicians. This individualized care is achieved through comprehensive health assessments; ordering and or interpreting diagnostic test or studies that provide for the formulation, implementation and evaluation of an evidence-based collaborative plan of care. The Nurse Practitioner upholds CSHS philosophies including but not limited to care consistent with Nursing Standards of Care/Practice, the Plan for Provision of Nursing Care, the Plan for Provision of Patient Care, the Performance Improvement Plan, the Patient Education Plan, the Professional Organization Standards, Code of Conduct, and hospital and departmental policies and procedures. She/he enhances competency skills through continuing education programs. The Nurse Practitioner is an expert clinical practitioner responsible for providing direct comprehensive patient care management; consultation, education, research and leadership expertise for specific patient care populations across the health care continuum. The Nurse Practitioner provides leadership, direction and continuity to the health care team to maintain optimum quality of nursing care for patients in designated clinical specialty(s) and through the Cedars-Sinai Health System (CSHS), while advancing the goals of Nursing Care. The NP assumes the roles of leader, clinician, researcher, educator, patient care advocate, consultant, inter and intradepartmental liaison, and resource professional. The NP provides a unique combination of medical and advance practice nursing services to patients and families to meet the health and illness needs of the client. Advance practice nursing is consistent with Nursing Standards of Care/Practice, the Plan for Provision of Nursing Care, The Plan for Provision of Patient Care, CSMC Code of Conduct, the Performance Improvement Plan, the Patient Education Plan and Professional Organization Standards. This is a FULL TIME, 8 hr position. Education and Work Experience Preferences: Master of Nursing Degree required. Current State of California Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner License. Graduate of an accredited Nurse practitioner program approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing as defined in Section 1482, Nurse Practice Act, Business and Professional Code. National Certification by respective accredited professional nursing organization such as the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), or Neonatal Academy of Nurse Practitioners (NANP). New nurse practitioner graduates who are eligible for national certification will be allowed a period of one year from the date of their training program graduation to obtain national certification. Current NP Furnishing License/DEA. Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitative Program Certificate (NRP), specific to Neonatal NPs, and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), specific to coach NPs. Demonstrates a commitment to customer service and an ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and healthcare colleagues. Minimum of 3-5 years experience as an Advanced Practice Nurse. Full command (verbal and written) of the English language.
