Job Category: NursingJob Specialty: Medical/SurgicalPosition Type: Regular-F/TShift Length: 12hrHours: 7pm - 7:30am Days: Departmental ScheduleShift Type: NightWeekends: Every Other The Clinical Partner (CP), under the direction of a licensed care giver, and after education and demonstration of competency, performs a variety of direct patient care activities or tasks specific to the unit/needs of the patient population. Assists patients with activities such as eating, walking and personal hygiene. Records and reports vital signs, dispenses/retrieves bedpans, and removes urinary catheters. He/she maintains competency skills including the ability to provide care to special patient populations and patients with diverse cultural backgrounds. He/she can identify the ability of the adolescent, adult and geriatric patient to follow directions/instructions. He/she can identify safety concerns in the age related population and institutes additional measures to provide a safe environment; and identify developmental milestones in the age-related population.- Assists patients with feeding, walking, transferring and personal hygiene.- Performs procedures such as dispensing/retrieving bedpans, using skin care products/pressure relieving devices and applying anti-embolic hose.- Reports observations and outcomes of activities performed.- Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills when working with customers, taking responsibility for resolving problems or complaints.- Contributes to team effort by completing assignments in a timely manner. Maintaining a productive and harmonious work environment, complying with safety standards and maintaining competency requirements.- May have access to and enter the medication room to get supplies. May not open or remove anything from the medication refrigerator in that room.- Demonstrates the ability to function in a fast paced, high volume TEAM environment with frequent interruptions.- Improves the accuracy of patient identification: Uses two identifiers when transporting patient between units/departments.- Reduces the risk of patient harm resulting from falls observes patient for risk of falling and takes action to prevent patient falls.- Reduces the risk of health care acquired infection by complying with current CDC hand washing guidelines and CSMC isolation policy. - Education and Work Experience Preferences: High School Diploma or equivalent.- CNA Certification required. Basic Life Support Certification.- Full command (verbal and written) of the English language, sufficient to carry out the duties identified in this job description. - Knowledge of therapeutic positioning techniques.- Physical Requirements (physical abilities essential to perform the job)- The physical ability and perceptive acuity to satisfactorily perform all direct and indirect patient care functions.OR- Any combination of academic education, professional training or work experience, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties required for the position
