CVU RN needed in Pennsylvania!
RN Department: Cardio Vascular Unit (CVU) Schedule: Weekend Shift: Night, 3 out of 4 weekends Hours: 7:00PM-7:30AM Job Details: The cardiovascular Unit is a critical care unit with 6-private beds caring for adult patients who have undergone or are imminently to undergo an acute intervention for the treatment of cardiac pathology. These interventions may include but are not limited to coronary artery bypass graft, valve repair/replacement, and percutaneous transluminal coronary intervention. Patients are managed in the CVU until discharge or transfer to another unit or appropriate health care facility.The Unit is staffed by RNs who provide direct patient care. Nurse/ patient ratios vary. Typical ratios are 1:1 6 to 12 hours OHS recovery, 1:2 POD#1, and 1:3 or 1:4 POD#2 through discharge. RNs are supported by a secretarial and technical staff.GENERAL SUMMARY STATEMENTProvides quality-nursing care throughout application of the nursing process. Participates in establishment of standards policies, procedures and guidelines for nursing practice. Supports the mission, philosophy and objectives of The Chester County Hospital.EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE; CERTIFICATION/LICENSURECurrent Pennsylvania RN licensure. Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. A minimum experience of one year specialty specific experience in a large open heart program is required. CPR certification required. Must meet specialty-specific competency requirements. Must have basic dysrhythmia course, ACLS, and Critical Care course.SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTSExcellent interpersonal communication skills. Ability to identify problems and resolve them using systems approach. Ability to utilize hospital approved equipment. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
