The Washington DC Veterans Affairs Medical Center (DCVAMC) is among the most visible and dynamic facilities in the VA system. As a tertiary care facility, DCVAMC provides acute general and specialized services in medicine, surgery, neurology, psychiatry, dentistry and numerous other subspecialties. The Medical Center, offers long-term care treatment in the 120-bed Comprehensive Nursing and Rehabilitation Center (CNRC). It operates four Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) and is a Veterans Health Administration test site for enhancements in the electronic medical record. The Medical Center is affiliated with three outstanding medical schools, more than 15 nursing schools and is a medical readiness partner with three Department of Defense medical facilities. The DCVAMC supports hundreds of active research projects and is home to one of two VA War Related Illness and Injury Study Centers (WRIISC). As a member of our surgical inpatient nursing team you will provide care for veterans on our 28-bed Surgical Inpatient Unit. While working on this innovative unit, you´ll collaborate with physicians, mid-level providers (PAs/NPs), registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, nursing support personnel, social workers, nutritionists, OTs, PTs, recreational therapists, and clinical pharmacists. You will also enjoy the opportunity to work with nurse practitioner and nursing students throughout their educational programs. You´ll have the opportunity to serve on committees and participate in our magnet journey. You must be a United States Citizen and hold a US unrestricted registered nurse license. A minimum of one year experience working in the acute care setting as a medical surgical nurse is required.
