This is an interdisciplinary team consisting of Clinical Psychiatrist Director, Psychologist, Advanced Practice Nurses, Social Workers, and an Addiction Therapist and a Program Support Assistant. This treatment program is designed to provide substance use treatment to veterans, who in addition, may have a concomitant medical and/or a mental health diagnosis. Treatment consists of evaluation which includes bio-psychosocial assessment, assessment of addiction behaviors, group and individual counseling and addiction education. Case management and referrals are part of the treatment planning. There is an ambulatory detoxification component with medication support. There is also a treatment component for opiate dependence with medication management.The responsibilities of the Adult NP position includes: H & Ps, medical evaluation of current health status, prescribing, leading the ambulatory detox component, monitoring and ordering lab tests, providing groups on medical aspects of addiction and education and support to the team on medical issues in addictions. As part of the team, this individual will participate in planning, treatment team meetings, and development of future programs. Other duties may develop in the establishment and expansion of the program. Transport of patients in a government vehicle on occasion is part of this position description.
