TITLE (REQ ID): DIR SURGERY (79828) DEPARTMENT: SURGERY EMPLOYMENT TYPE: FULL TIME SHIFT: DAY (VARIED) HOURS PER PAY PERIOD: 80 SHIFT HOURS: FACILITY: DOMINICAN HOSPITAL SANTA CRUZ LOCATION: SANTA CRUZ, CA POSITION REQUIREMENTS Under the direction of the Vice President of nursing, the Surgical Services Director will demonstrate management and leadership skills; they will have experience in perioperative nursing and will maintain awareness of regulatory activities affecting health care. They will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing and controlling the health care process through the overall management of the Operating Room, PACU, Short Stay Unit, Sterile Processing and Pain Management Clinic. The director will be responsible for written policies and procedures that guide perioperative services and ensure that patient care is delivered safely and competently. The director will be responsible for the fiscal activities of the perioperative nursing service. The director will collect data to facilitate planning decisions that address the identified needs of the surgeons, anesthesiologists, staff and patients. Responsible and accountable for daily operations, staffing and educational programs. Works with administration and other members of improvement teams in the planning and coordination or surgical services to assure safe and efficient hospital operations. In collaboration with Administration and medical staff leaders the Director participate in decision-making structures and processes for the organization.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEducation and Experience: • Graduate of a State Accredited School of Nursing, Bachelor’s degree required• Master’s degree preferred. • Five years of progressively responsible managerial experience in the Operating Room.• Experience in managing the budget process, for both revenue and expense in the operating room.Special Training and Skills: • Thorough knowledge of operations of all services supervised. • Strong leadership and communication skills. • Excellent computer skillsLicensure:• Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of California. • Current BCLS certification
