The CNMs provide coverage/supervision for the labor unit and residency practice in collaboration with both Maternal Fetal Medicine and General Obstetric physicians. Clinical care, teaching and supervision in outpatient clinics and involvement in 1 million dollar State of Tennessee awarded grant for implementation of Centering Pregnancy in our outpatient practices. A triage unit within Labor and Delivery is being planned and will open further opportunities. All positions require a minimum of 5 years clinical practice as a CNM in full scope practice with high risk experience. Centering experience/certification is a plus. Our current group of three CNMs have their own group of patients that choose midwifery care and they collaborate with our group of seven very supportive OB/GYN physicians. All of our deliveries are done at Genesis Medical Center, with a level II + NICU and approximately 2,300 births per year. Our midwifery practice does 40-50 births a month and we labor in the room with all of our patients. You would be on-call typically one day a week and one weekend a month and in the office three days a week, with a set weekday off. Georgia OB/GYN has one American Board Certified solo practitioner with a busy, established OB/GYN practice who is seeking to expand their practice. Skills required are competency with gynecology patients, including annual exams, menopause issues, vaginal infections, family planning, and OB patients (prenatal care and delivery). Dr. McCord currently admits to only one hospital, with the possible expansion to another with the rapid growth of the practice. Many patients in the practice desire that their prenatal care and births be with a midwife. Deliveries usually average between 15 and 20 births per month. Call would be 2 out of 4 days, Monday through Thursday, with a 1 in 5 weekend call, (4 out of 5 weekends off). All work in the hospital and in the offices with MD backup.
