If you are an experienced, self-motivated, energetic nurse midwife, dedicated to patient care, education and research, we are interested in you!Geisinger Health Systems division of Obstetrics and Gynecology provides complete care, as well as a wide range of outpatient diagnostic and treatment regimens, including evaluation for problems relating to endocrinology, premenstrual syndrome and menopause. In addition, the divisions clinical expertise includes family-centered care for normal as well as the most advanced care for high-risk pregnancies. We provide expert care for both the short-stay mother and baby after a normal delivery and the high-risk mother and critically ill baby. Our midwives are focused on the needs of the individual and family for physical care, emotional and social support and active involvement of significant others according to the cultural values and personal preferences. They encourage continuity of care; emphasize safe, competent clinical management; advocate non-intervention in normal processes; and promote health education for women throughout the childbearing cycle and beyond. Some of the health care services that this experienced Nurse Midwife provides includes: prenatal care, intrapartum care, delivery for low-risk patients, breast feeding, counseling, postpartum care, massage therapy for newborns, breast examinations, menopausal care, annual well-woman exams, pap smears and cancer screening.Essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Providing individualized gynecological and prenatal careHands on assistance during labor and deliveryAnnual exams and postpartum supportParticipation in the call scheduleAccurate and complete charting in both the hard copy and electronic medical recordInstills confidence and facilitate communication with patients. Patient educationThe successful Certified Nurse Midwife reports directly to the Chairperson, Womens Health Service Line. The successful Nurse Midwife candidate works in collaboration with the physician, has a certificate of completion from an approved program for Nurse Midwives and must be eligible for or certified by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. Our successful candidate will have a strong desire to work with OB/GYN patients and their families. Additionally, the candidate should have excellent people skills, demonstrated concern for the health and well-being of others, superior written and oral communication skills, computer literacy including electronic medical record documentation and the ability to work both as a team member and independently.
