The nurse educator functions as an educational and clinical resource for patient services personnel. Educational services include the development, coordination and/or instruction of educational programs designed to meet the needs of the professional and non professional personnel and which are in accordance with the goals and objectives of the hospital and the Patient Services Department. The educator will function as an informal consultant to facilitate holistic nursing care of patients and their families/significant others. He/she will also be actively involved as planner, facilitator and/or participant in any ongoing research related to the clinical outcomes of patients or educational outcomes of staff. The educator provides: new employee orientation, nursing student orientation and support, periodic and on-going educational programs and program coordination and presentation of resuscitation emergency preparation training. Inpatient consultation, assessment and diabetic education is provided. The educator must demonstrate knowledge and practical application of theories and principles of adult education. Must also demonstrate professional growth, initiative and creativity. Must demonstrate flexibility in work hours. Must be able to work with all hospital personnel, from Senior Management to bedside care-givers. Qualifications Education: Five years clinical experience, Bachelors Degree in Nursing required, Masters in related field desired Licensure/Certifications: RN License State of Missouri, certification in area of specialty preferred.
