Manager of Med/Surg - PHCManages clinical activities of 5 patient care units, 8 service lines, 150 FTEs and over 100 beds. Responsible for the recommendation, development and implementation of policies and procedures within that span. Responsible for keeping the service director informed of both progress and potential problems within the service, as well as the management and evaluation of patient care delivery. Maintains fiscal /operational aspects of the units under span of control in collaboration with other service areas. Coordinates service activities and representation on committees such as, performance improvement, customer service, and education. Completes staff evaluations and competencies and fiscal reports/budgets within timeframe assigned. RN/NYSlic/BSN pref ACLS,PALS,NALS cert pref. Candidate must have 2-5 yrs of recent Acute Care Clinical experience; In addition, 2-5 yrs budgeting, operations and management experience a must. Computer literate with excel is mandatory.Candidate must demonstrate leadership abilities; able to work under stressful situations. Candidate must have good oral and written communication skills, demonstrate positive interpersonal relationships in a manner which enhances communication, promotes conflict resolution and facilitates staff development, skills and knowledge to sustain and evaluate clinical competence in caring for the specific age and type of patient population served. Proficiency with operating a cost effective unit through monitoring utilization of supplies, equipment, personnel and expenses. Candidate must be able to prepare bi-weekly payroll variance reports, labor and non-labor operating budgets, and other reports as assigned. The Medical Surgical Unit at The Northern Dutchess Hospital is a 40 bed unit. The Medical Surgical Unit provides care to all ages and diagnoses. The Medical Surgical Unit is capable of providing telemetry monitoring for up to 14 patients, of which 7 of these units also provide continuous pulse oximetry monitoring. The Medical Surgical Unit is home to 4 designated stroke beds in which telemetry and non-invasive monitoring is available. In addition to our inpatient population, the M/S unit provides care for 23 hour hold surgical holds and patients assigned to observation status.BSN, RN License Min. 7 yrs Management exp.
