**CIVILIAN EMPLOYMENT**
Duties:Serves as a charge nurse on the labor and delivery ward, newborn nursery and the post-partum ward, performing a variety of administrative duties as an extension of and in support of the head nurse. Provides comprehensive nursing care to patients. Provides health education, preoperative and postoperative, and family planning counseling. Rotates between newborn nursery, labor and delivery, and postpartum as assigned. Makes nursing care assignments to various skill levels of professional and nonprofessional personnel. Assigns staff to patient care duties based on patient condition and expertise of staff. Monitors and oversees nursing staff performance to assure work is accomplished in a timely manner. Provides comprehensive nursing care to normal, complicated, premature and high-risk obstetric, and postpartum patients based on physicians medical care plan, nursing care plan and the assessed physical, mental and emotional needs of the patient.Qualifications:Education: Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant.Registration: Applicants must have active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, DC, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the US. Specialized Experience: Applicant must possess one year of specialized experience in labor and deliver or women´s health.
