PAP Tracking Nurse need in Falls Church, Virginia!
Schedule: Part-Time position to include Monday 8:30AM-5:00PM, Wednesday 8:30AM-1:00PM, and Friday8:30AM-5:00PM.Preferred Skills: Experience in OB/GYN as an outpatient clinical nurse. Computer literate with experience in database management and tracking tools. Detail oriented and able to communicate well with patients via telephone.PURPOSE: Responsible for the coordination of care, tracking, and follow-up for members who have had Cervical Cancer Screening, using established protocols. Develops and directs a plan of care for at-risk populations for Cervical Cancer, utilizing Clinical Practice Guidelines. This position consistently supports compliance and Kaiser Permanente´s Code of Conduct by adhering to federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licenser requirements and Kaiser Permanente´s policies and procedures.ACCOUNTABILITIES: 1. Tracks and coordinates all PAP related tests, procedures, and surgeries.- Is responsible for all Cervical Cancer Screening, test resulting, follow up testing, and subsequent treatment activities.- Interprets complex cytology and pathology to drive follow up treatment.- Facilitates follow-up care with recommended time frames according to MAS and National standards.- Runs reports and follows protocols to keep acceptable audit scores.- Makes follow-up appointments as appropriate.- Demonstrates the ability to make quick decisions, based on sound critical thinking skills according to established protocols.- Utilizes the PAP Tracking System effectively to successfully track all activities.2. Implements and monitors a comprehensive patient education program addressing the patient´s level of understanding regarding risk factors, treatment programs, and preventative measures to avoid pre-cancerous states.- Educates around complex pathophysiology of PAP and pathology results that include Low and High Grade lesions, including cancerous states.- Provides comprehensive education around the DNA HPV virus, its properties, effects, incidence, transmission, and prevention.- Promotes healthy lifestyle changes associated with Cervical Cancer prevention.- Deals with the emotional worried well responses to the carriage of the HPV virus.- Receives and processes telephone inquiries from general membership regarding information around Cervical Cancer Screening and PAP test results.- Utilizes secure messaging to respond to member´s web based inquiries, and provide next step notices.- Documents all patient encounters using both electronic medical record, and the PAP Tracking System.3. Prioritizes program activities to maximize productivity and efficiency.4. Participates in training and orientation of new staff.5. Troubleshoots Lab issues as necessary.6. Performs, analyzes, and remedies outstanding audits as directed.7. Contributes to the development of Program protocols, policies, processes.8. Participates in Peer Review activities to initiate dialogue regarding differing workflow styles, and to support unit consistency.9. Is responsible for providing consistent and quality customer service.- Partners with specific HCT members at each medical center to allow for consistent and accurate communication.- Makes periodic site visits to meet with staff to share new updates, etc.- Trains center staff as needed in PAP tracking activities.- Performs provider orientation at the medical centers.- Consults and collaborates with providers using electronic medical record ePAP workflow to establish sign off and recommendations for high grade lesion and pathology results.10. Serves as a resource for all pap related activities for Primary Care, and other Care Teams.11. Assists members in empathetic, efficient manner to determine best course of action to resolve any Cervical Cancer screening or treatment issue.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS -Relevant Years of Experience:- Three years clinical experience required.- One year ambulatory care in either GYN or Women´s Health arena required.- Proficient computer skills in related software (Windows) required.- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills required.- Telephone advice/triage experience preferred.- Demonstrated experience in assessing and triaging patients in a high volume setting using departmental guidelines, OB/GYN advice protocols, and procedures required.License, Certification and/or Designation:- Current RN or LPN license in Virginia or Maryland, and D.C. required.- Valid state driver´s license in Virginia, Maryland, or D.C. required.- Certification for PAP tracking within one month of hire required.- PAP Tracking Certification for the following training required:1. Completion of Computer based PAP Tracking System course.2. Completion of a core information clinical study package with a PAP Tracking Resource Nurse, including a formal overview of the abnormal PAP smear, pre-and post- tests, and the PAP Tracking Proficiency Checklist.Special Requirements:- Must have a proven history of providing service to members in an empathetic and courteous manner and interacting effectively and courteously with co-workers.- Anticipates the customer´s desires, takes proactive steps to meet those needs by listening and taking responsibility within scope to ensure issues are resolved.- Maintains and protects patient confidentiality.
